On darknet markets they use an escrow account and admins act as mediators, so as long as you can show that you have a valid tracking number. The issue becomes when people try to scam you by selling you broken electronics or scam buyers pulling fraud returns. Weirdly this is common with VCRs on eBay. There’s large resellers who buy good VCRs and steal parts out of them and return them. Then they resell on Amazon. I guess it comes back to having a karma system.

The issue in the US with accepting payments on behalf of sellers is that you have to then collect sales tax which is different for every locality. Then you also have to issue tax forms to the sellers for sales over a certain amount. Which leaves us with sellers collecting payments on their own which means using something like PayPal or Bitcoin. You would just have to have people build trust through reviews and hope for the best. You could base the service in a random other country so that you wouldn’t have a bunch of regulations to deal with and leave all the tax stuff up to the buyers and sellers. You’d probably run into issues with accepting credit cards though.

eBay/marketplace/etsy alternative.

Not really trustworthy since they could easily have a company pay to have their products in the results plus there’s alternatives and other considerations depending on your buying preference like locally available if you need something today vs a better price.

At first I had to remove some posts but then I revamped the rules and that really helped. the community has grown into its own thing over time. The most I had to remove was recently due to a spat people were having in the comments. I never have had to ban anyone.

Last time fuel prices were up (Close to 20 years ago) there was major interest in hybrids and gasoline alternatives. Now that gas prices are up again we’ll see more interest in electric vehicles and alternative forms of transportation.

I managed to brick my car. I bought an extra car for $1500. It came with one key and upon inspection noticed that it was full of green corrosion (it’s a proximity key/fob). Anyway, I bought two keys and a topdon topscan pro which can do key programming. I started the procedure and when you do that it erases all keys stored in the computer and then you relearn all the new keys one at a time. There’s a little nfc reader in the car where you insert each key during the learning process and then a little light on the dash is supposed to blink. Well it didn’t blink during the process and none of the keys will start the car. I’m not sure if the little nfc slot is bad or there’s a problem with the programmer I bought. So yeah, I have a dead car for right now until I can figure out the problem.

I’ve bought several knockoff tools that work with DeWalt batteries and I have an adapter that lets me use a DeWalt battery in my old craftsman drill.

There’s a lot of fakes mixed in with regular inventory because individual sellers can send their products to have Amazon fulfill orders for them and Amazon just mixes inventory all together. This is why I don’t buy a lot of name brand stuff from Amazon, especially things like shampoo as you don’t know what you’re getting.
