Shit even when they weren’t out of ideas the old TNG plot lines were super horny as hell. Anything involving Deanna Troi was at least 50% horny.

Or Tasha Yar coming from the rape planet.

It’s almost as if star trek was created by a man so horny on his honeymoon he banged someone who wasn’t his wife.

According to Solow, Roddenberry traveled to Japan with the intention of marrying Barrett.[41] She had a passport and joined Roddenberry in Tokyo, where they were married in a Shinto ceremony on August 6, 1969. […] He continued to have liaisons with other women, telling his friends that while in Japan he had an encounter with a masseuse about a week after he was married.[44]

It’s not “the rape planet”, but apparently a very stereo-typical “third world” kinda vibe entire planet that does have “roving rape gangs”. So really, “the rape planet” not far off the mark.

Yeah “roving rape gangs” are the only characterization we get of the entire planet and Tasha’s origin story. Even in a flashback with her she’s running away from one of those gangs.

It’s just so bizarre because like another poster said she just casually brings it up in an internal monologue and moves on. Like you can’t just say something like “roving rape gang” and carry on like you’re dodging border patrol.

Let’s be honest Vulcans, Klingons, and Romulans were pretty tired by the time the Borg happened around, and they were a breath of fresh air. Threatening. More alien than most alien races in Trek. They did eventually overdo them.
