Sci Fi only deals with social issues.
That’s a bold generalization and generalizations are always wrong. Always.
Im confused, what exactly do they want instead?

To be 10-15 again when they couldn’t parse the message and themes of episodes but just saw space ships and aliens.
They want it the way it was back in the days when they were too young to understand the social commentary
space lasers pew pew
I want Star Trek to deal with social issues, but for it also to be competency porn without excessive drama again.
Yeah but…
I honestly can’t remember anyone ever complaining about that part.
Why? Because fans complain about everything but fans of star Trek are not fans of trek for the pew pew, they’re fans because of the exploration of social issues, it’s star treks entire thing.
What people complained about all the time was star Trek pretending to be dealing with social issues by being very overtly “look at us, look at us being progressive!” evil story lines were shit and it mostly was pew pew and lens flares.
I LOVE star Trek (actual star Trek, not the modern trash) because of the social issues it touches, it’s just that nu trek has shit writers and THAT was what people were complaining about (and still are), yet somehow new trek fans got the idea that complaining about crappy story lines is the same as complaining about the social issues. It is not.
