Why are the bystanders allowing this? In every video of cops BLATANTLY abusing people, which is illegal in most places, the bystanders all just yell. No one attempts to stop it. I understand that they would get beat too. But there are dozens of you idiots.

Every day I am glad I never see this shit, because I would absolutely end up dead for not just watching it like a bitch.

You don’t need to treat them like they’re acting like a “tough guy”, they’re already saying they would get their ass beat if they tried something like this.

I definitely get the sentiment too: Of course, I have no idea how I would actually react in a situation like this, since I’ve never been in one. However, I have a hard time seeing myself idly standing by. I would definitely have a very strong desire to do something, but I don’t know if my sense of self-preservation would prevail over my sense of justice or not. Point is, none of us are trying to come off as some “tough guy”, we’re just echoing a feeling I think many people have: That we think it’s hard to imagine just standing by and watching someone else be beaten like this. That doesn’t mean we’re claiming we would do anything, but for myself I can at least say that I hope I would do something, and that I have a hard time imagining that I wouldn’t.

Been to plenty of protests. Luckily the police have been civil, or like I said, my life would be significantly worse or over at present.

Getting beat by police doesn’t change anything. You know what does? Watching and recording and being a witness to the illegal actions. If you were arrested by the police and yell about their abuse, it won’t matter unless you have witnesses to back you up. Both are needed.

True. But what if that person was beaten to death, and you could have prevented that by intervening. That would be changed by getting beat. Or if multiple people were to aid you, the cops could be moved away.

Watched this a number of times trying to figure why the guy breaks away and moves towards the crowd. At first it seemed odd like he was charging bystanders, but then I realized it looks like a cop holding bystanders back might’ve been rough.

Like I thought he was attacking the lady in black in the crowd, but looks more like it’s actually a cop’s arm on her and he’s reaching for the cop’s arm.

And then they just go hog wild.

Well, the cops were telling them to leave and stop obstructing the checkpointq, so technically he was complying then if that was the case.

Laying hands on a cop manhandling someone though? That’s a beating in any cops book.

They were blocking an exit, iirc. This is one where they were removed technically for the “right” reason, but these cops took it way further.

      that article didn’t explain shit

the cops reacted violently because one guy wanted to meet the activists and they held him back so the activists moved towards the cops?

      none of that makes sense
