Oh, the fish are already frying. Russian aren’t just queuing up for gas because they’re reminiscing about the Soviet Union.

Hitting oil production and refining is about the most effective thing Ukraine could do perhaps. That is the base of the Russian State’s income and power. You could hit some mining stuff too maybe.

But if the refineries are too well protected, maybe blow some actual oil rigs, they can’t protect them all.

The nice thing about refineries is that they’re huge, complex and expensive. They also require important precision components that Russia can’t produce, and thanks to sanctions can’t easily buy.

      It’s a triple whammy.

IF the refineries are protected target the factories making military equipment (bombs, drones, shells…). Target the airplanes and launch systems for those. There are a lot of targets, refineries are good if the people can put enough pressure on the government to stop the war, but otherwise the military gets priority for what fuel there is.

I don’t recommend oil wells just because you have to get so many before it makes a dent. Also they are likely to be easy to repair even if you do get one (depends on how it is hit). There is other oil infrastructure that is worth hitting.

      Interesting. Why not?

I’d say that less fuel consumption is a positive thing rather than a negative one!
