If I remember the overall tone, it would be in character for him to see the collection of wealth as a response to some childhood harm that it would be better for Elon to overcome, so he could be free of its binding influence. Not that his being a billionaire was bad, but him having a compulsion to hoard wealth is harmful for his well-being.
