Good time to remind everyone that ICE’s authority is exclusively over immigration enforcement. They are not meant to have any authority over American citizens at all. They are not meant to have any authority to enforce any other laws or do crowd control. They are not meant to use chemical irritants, less than lethal weapons/ammunition, physical force, or actual firearms at all except as minimally necessary to defend themselves and others.
Trump, Miller, Noem, and Homan have unethically, fraudulently, and illegally empowered and protected them to turn them into this paramilitary force that is breaking up lawful protests and terrorizing, kidnapping, and killing the public whether they be citizen, legal resident, prospective refugee, a visa holder, or undocumented.
All of this is a violation of law and the creation of those four (and likely others), and one they continually defend and lie to cover rather than correct. These are unquestionably impeachable offenses for all 4 of them. Congress needs to do their jobs and hold the executive to account for violations of duty, law, and the public welfare. They should be removed from office and charged formally. This is not ok.
This is one (of the many) rage inducing things that is happening. These “federal officers” don’t have jurisdiction, authority or purpose in being where they are and doing what they do. We’re watching an ‘off-duty officer from county X’ wander around county Y and shoot someone.
Their protections are ‘in pursuit of duty’, which this isn’t, since it’s not their scope. I’m not a lawyer, but it strikes me that any order made illegally, like ‘do crowd control’ doesn’t shield them from consequences. I’m hoping the various public law groups are just slower to react than the news cycle since they are making air-tight cases. We did see multiple restraining orders and injunctions filed within hours of Pretti’s murder.
I’ve sent letters to my weaselly government representatives (purple state, mine are all republicans) to demand we hold these thugs accountable, but I don’t think it’ll do much good because I’m not sure any of them are smart enough to read.
To be fair those of us that have been protesting this since it was signed in with the patriot act knew exactly what ice was for.
You can’t trust the words that come out of the government’s mouth. It doesn’t matter who it is.
To make matters even worse, at every turn, the people in charge have lied to us, told us not to believe what we’ve seen with our own eyes, and pushed increasingly aggressive and antagonistic tactics, including impeding investigations by local authorities.

But for real tho. What happens if civilians start actively defending themselves from ICE? I am not from USA, this is a genuine question. ICE is overstepping their competences and actively killing civilians. Courts wouldn’t stand on their side, but from what I understand the highest instance is owned by Trump pretty much.
What happens if civilians, legal, documented civilians shoot back?
They’ll respond with overwhelming force and paint the people fighting back as terrorists.
