    It would be interesting to see how the numbers changed after this, divided by application type and previous area of residence.

    In Canada, we have the same problem: people believe our immigration rate is rising, despite it having fallen sharply over the past year. But, to be honest, the truth rarely matters anymore in the attention economy.
