conservatism@piefed.social

This is a community for conservatism. Every other conservative space in the Fediverse has devolved into extremism or bigotry. This will NOT be tolerated. The rules are as such:

  1. No racism or ethnosupremacism.
  2. No antisemitism (including dogwhistles or using right or left politics to deny it).
  3. No misogyny (such as saying women should not vote).
  4. No queer-hatred (disagreeing with their lifestyle is not a blank cheque for vitriol or exclusion).
  5. No ableism.
  6. No ageism.
  7. No slurs.
  8. No extremism.
  9. No personal attacks or strawmen on others (ad-hominens). ARGUE IN GOOD FAITH!
  10. No spam.
  11. No flood.
  12. No trying to find loopholes in the rules.
  13. Moderator and the host instance has the final say. Follow the Terms of Service of PieFed and, even if you may disagree with them, the broader Fediverse as a whole.

Edited for accuracy.

Okay? I simply do not believe we should discriminate against the queer community. The reason I said that is because many on the right says, ‘I am just disagreeing with their lifestyle!’ as an excuse for hatred. I am preemptively striking that down. No excuses for that.

“Disagreeing with their lifestyle” implies that you admit that queer people have a lifestyle that is not “normal”, for people to disagree with it. This is already a discriminating statement.

You do not need to repeat the arguments of fascists to be able to counter them. “No discrimination” on its own is enough to ban any -phobic comment, you don’t need to preemptively do anything more.

That’s the kind of stuff that makes it look like a clean “front” for a breeding grounds of fascism. Whether or not that’s the case, it immediately becomes an implicit attack on queer people and then you end up filtering everyone out except the ones that are fine with attacks on queer people. (Assuming that making a community about conservatism didn’t already do that)

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse : for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. It is not that they are afraid of being convinced. They fear only to appear ridiculous or to prejudice by their embarrassment their hope of winning over some third person to their side.
