To describe what I mean.
- Wake up in the morning
- Don’t need to use the bathroom all that much
- Eat breakfast
- Suddenly bathroom is #1 priority
Does anyone else experience something similar to the above? I always considered it to be a way to make way for a new meal.
Acetylcholine.
There’s plenty of things that can trigger it being dumped into your system. It’s a neurotransmitter, and works throughout the body like most of them do.
One of the things that triggers it is eating. You eat, it gets released. It gets released and fairly quickly hits the receptors that are open to it.
One of those receptors in the gut then increases bowel/intestinal motility.
Thus, you wake up, and your body starts pumping out fresh chemicals. You eat, and the chemicals related to that crank up. Then, poop happens.
There’s a shit ton of things besides eating that can get the job done, but it’s extremely common for a post prandial poop to pop.
Me? IBS has fucked my shit up for ages, and I can usually time when that first rumble will hit after I start eating. Fifteen to twenty minutes. It isn’t always urgent as that’s determined by a wide range of factors, butt it’ll definitely hit in that time range if there’s no stimulants involved (and I’m real sparing with caffeine). So you aren’t alone at all :)
Not much till first cup of coffee, then step 4
Do you have coffee as part of your breakfast? It is known to cause bowl movements. I usually don’t eat anything in the morning, but 5mins after my first coffee is finished, it’s potty time.
Iirc this affects roughly 1/3 people and does so by activating the gastrocolic reflex
Try this:
Wake up in the morning
Drink a big glass of water
Wait 1-10 minutes
Poop
Depends on how urgent it is. To some extent, it’s entirely normal, since eating tends to have that effect.
Ask anyone with babies what happens after every breakfast.
Your digestion is pretty much on pause first thing, but after some breakfast, a little time and (most especially) that first cup of coffee, things are moving again.
This is very common and anyone who has worked in an office will know that 10AM is prime shitting time. It’s basically the porcelain rush hour.
Seems normal to me. At some variable time after I get up, I need to poop. I feel like coffee or eating, even drinking water, can encourage it, but even without those, it happens. If I try to repress it, like if i’m still working on making coffee and want to finish, it can become quite urgent.
Digestion is basically an input=output system.
FIFO
IBS?
Do you eat cereal with milk often?
Pavlov’s coffee.
(In your case Pavlov’s breakfast)
