    a) can’t trust the US to help ever;
    b) can’t trust the US to not attack: c) might be good to find allies elsewhere.

Are submarines going to help in any of these scenarios?

The only use I see here is helping fight America’s enemies.

Of course not. Our ONLY direct threat is the USA and a few U-boats will do FUCK ALL.

Massive waste of money we could have spent on real Canadian problems. If the CAF wants toys, let them raise the money with fun runs and bake sales.

We have a northern border. Northwest passage will be opening up soon due to climate change. Arctic ocean is already full of subs (Ruskies, Yanks, Brits, etc). Once the passage opens it’s a new front to defend.

The arctic is packed with minerals and oil. They (everyone) want those resources.

God damn right subs will help.

God damn right subs will help.

They will delay the invasion from breakfast to early brunch. This is beyond stupid, fighting trillion dollar defense countries with a pea shooter. Delusional waste of money.

If we had about a dozen nukes across the country, not one would touch us, but the US won’t ever let that happen.

Oh. So you’re a moron. Fair enough.

This is beyond stupid, fighting trillion dollar defense countries with a pea shooter.

We aren’t fighting trillion dollar defense countries, son. We are readying for anything. The subs aren’t just to deter, they are mostly used for recon.

Knowing what others are doing is quite important in any battle/situation. You can’t know if you don’t have the tools. Would you prefer us to be uninformed?

If we had about a dozen nukes across the country, not one would touch us, but the US won’t ever let that happen.

Agreed. Mutually assured destruction is the best deterrence. However thinking the US will stop us from having nukes if Britain/Europe provides them or if we step it up and make our own, is extra sad. We have the 8th largest uranium deposits in the world. US is 55th. Out of 59. The US doesn’t have that power. Stop giving it to them. We have everything we need here.

Your mentality is a reason our military is in shambles. Defeated before you ever start a fight.

Spend billions a year parking them and training in them. CAF can have vessels to harass each other.

So when we are old and dying in a disease we don’t research, we can get a card saying thanks for the U boats.

Hey, without those submarines, their trade across the Atlantic is vulnerable to Europe, and their trade with China could by threatened by China at any moment.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but as an excercise, try rereading my comment and thinking about it until you figure out what its actually expressing.

            spoiler

Hint: If someone’s word choice intentionally makes a notion seem absurd, they probably aren’t expressing that notion.
