      Ok, but what I’m hearing isn’t exactly good for Russia.

      First, he has to make a statement about defense capability. The only times a sitting government really needs to make that assurance is if there has been something done to shake the confidence in defense or this is an election issue, and last I checked there isn’t a contested election occurring soon.

      Second, it is odd to point to the EU as the foe to defeat. Russia is already in a war with Ukraine; why isn’t he giving assurances to the actual belligerent Russia is fighting?
