Every position of power eventually becomes corrupt, and when it does, it starts subtly using its power to gain more power. As it gains more and more power, it becomes less and less subtle. Fascism isn’t just a type of government structure, it’s the natural endpoint of all governments when they’ve achieved enough power to drop all subtlety.

It’s like how a fruit will always rot eventually- you have to eat it before it goes bad, then buy another one if you want one for later. You have to overthrow a government before it gets too corrupt and powerful, then establish a new one.

That’s why as they get more corrupt they become more obsessed about nationalism, weapons manufacturing, surveillance, and everything else that makes it harder to revolt; they know that if they can close down the avenues for the people to fight back, they’ve won, and if they win, the only possible conclusion is fascism.

Nobody in power is going to care about the little guy unless that little guy has the potential ability to group up with all the other little guys to rival their power. If they kill that potential, they never have to think about someone besides themselves for the rest of time.

That didn’t quite answer the question. It explains why it’s going that way, but not if there are any that are in a better position/direction.

How many thousands of years of human behavior have we witnessed, and these governments still haven’t figured out that banning something just makes it all the more desirable lmao

That’s assuming it’s being banned to stop it from happening rather than being banned to give an excuse to punish those who do it.
