What happened to "Sanctuary Cities" where they bussed so called "immigrants" there? Was there a long term effect or anything? Or did cities may had a hiccup or two and that's about it?

My city’s still a sanctuary city. Mostly, the effects seem to be that people really want to live here a lot, and then lots of people move here.
