We do exactly the same job.
To me the idea of enjoying a job is an odd one: I don’t want to work, I only work because I need the money. If I had money I wouldn’t work.
I don’t know if this makes me the oddest person on earth, but where I am my coworkers sometimes make me feel so.
She asked me if I enjoy my job. I looked at her surprised while thinking to answer her with a regular blanket manager answer like ‘it is such a honor to work here, fuck yeah, I’d love to work here for free!’ or being completely sincere.
I was in a good mood, so I chose being sincere: ‘I don’t enjoy working, I work because I need to pay for the rest of my life, I enjoy cooking, writing poetry and walking through a forest.’
She looked at me a bit surprised and replied: ‘but you have to like your job.’ My answer? ‘As long as I earn money all’s good.’
This happened in a big room with like 9 coworkers hearing the convo.
Now I don’t know if I just committed job suicide where I work at, but it was liberating saying out loud at the workplace what I think a job is.
And why the fixation that you must like a job? It’s a job for fucks sake. Why do you have to like it?
To me this only confirms my current job is a cult. Am I exaggerating?
If every workplace is like this I should stick with the devil I know…

I have the worst bullshit job.
Cannot quit, without dying. Disability support. If you do anything that can be construed as able, they cut you off. They send “assessors” to assault and defraud you under pretence they’re checking you’re disabled enough (like that’s not already cruel undeserved punishment if that’s even what they were doing)… and they’ll cut you off. They keep you down, and then blame you, and then hold you up as an icon of hate, smearing you with lies like instead of being the most vulnerable, you’re a professional conman, and they spread this across the paid propaganda “news”, so not only people do not care when they kill you by starvation, freezing, denied medicine, stressed and pained enough to end your own life, they cheer it on, not realising this is supposed to be the social security safeguard that’s there for us each and all, them too, should they fall on hard times too. … And if you try do anything (or even if not), they cut you off. Paid to do nothing, to stay down. Not paid to help get back to strength. And then the hateful, and the callously stupid and ignorant who think they have good intentions, want to throw the baby out with the bathwater and cut you off entirely, like that’d solve it, and the disability would magically disappear, following the same logic of a witch-hunt, same as the fit-to-work scandal’s assessment scam… if the woman drowns, if the benefit claimant dies, they’re innocent. If they do not, then they’re a deceiver to be killed or punished… … The worst bullshit job. There’s nowhere to quit it, from here, in this trap they maintain. I hear some places actually try to help… rather than just increase suffering in negligence, just for their own uptonsinclairian convenience and delusion. They’re just doing their job… blood on their hands.
