If you’re posting a submission please include:

• Original Post title with link
• OOP name (if available) and platform
• Dates of original posts and updates Month, day, year
• Trigger warnings using the mood spoiler
• Make it readable (not in all caps or all bold)

Step 1:

• Please don’t post if the original source has a rule or request against reposts
• Only repost updates that are at minimum 1 week old, especially for platforms like reddit where they can still be interacted with.
• Make sure your post hasn’t been posted here within the last year, search the community for your title and similar titles.

Step 2:

• Please include all parts of a story. If they are too long, they can be shorted but please indicate it was shortened with a link to the original post.
• If there is an update by the original poster made within 7 days, add the update to your existing post with a note at the top that there’s a new update at the bottom made after this post. If it’s been more than 7 days, you can make another post indicating a NEW update.
• If posting from Ask A Manager, Alison has requested on reddit that we remove her advice from the post, we will also follow that rule here.
• If posting from Captain Awesome, CA has asked here not to copy each story in full and make sure you give credit and link back. This can be accomplished the same way as Alison, by not posting the response from CA and is just generally good advice for any advice style blog post.

Title:

• You can create your own title or you can use the OOP’s title
• Do not use all caps in your title
• Avoid spoilers and personal bias in your titles
• Use your title as the first line in your post in Bold with the link to the original post or if posting from reddit, CA or AAM, to that post. Or use the link option when creating a post.

Intro:

• Second line under the title should read: "I am NOT OP. The original post is from (see next bullet point)
• If you’re reposting from Reddit or another such site that has a best of updates, please include the user who compiled the best of example: Thanks u/username of Reddit for making the original BoRU. No need to link to their profile as the title will be linked to their post.
• Trigger warnings should be included using the spoiler tag. note: should be an emotion the reader will feel by the end of the post that does not spoil events. Required if the final update is distressing or bleak, otherwise optional. Positive/negative result is an acceptable mood spoiler. Or something along the lines of “self harm, sexual assault” or other things people might need to be wary of.

Body:

• The original post should have a bold heading titled “Original:” followed by the date
• Any updates should have a break between the previous and the next you can accomplish this by adding a line that’s dash space dash space dash
• All updates should be in Bold and titled “Update # :” followed by the date of the update.
• Adding a date marker is optional but beneficial (like 5 years from original post)
• Include at the bottom in bold at the very end: “Do not comment in linked posts or message OOP’s” and below that in bold: “This is a repost community, I am not OP”

Readability

• Use paragraphs, not an entire wall of text
• Use formatting like Bold for titles, breaks in between updates etc.
• Put them in order, Original post first, update #1 second update #2 third etc.
• Remove any redundant summaries that the OP has used. Often on Reddit they will summarize their last post. We have it all in one post, it’s not necessary and takes up space. Please remove it.
• If OP used an image, post an image URL so it will show up in the post. If that image no longer is accessible, please note that where the image would be example: “…post text (OP included an image which is no longer available) post text…”

Comments

• You can include relavant comments made to and from OOP if they’re available. Try to keep it minimal, and make sure they add to the story.

• If available please link to the comments section (not each individual comment)

• Put the comments and reply from OP in quotes so it’s designated as a comment.

• Comments should be structured as: Commenter 1: Comment text followed by OOP: Comment Text Flair

• Please start your post with a “flair” by putting it within brackets and end it with a flair of the source. Example: [Concluded] Post title [Reddit]

• More than one flair might be applicable to a post. Submitters should use their best judgement and include clarification in the title or the post. For instance, flairing a post CONCLUDED and in the title adding [NEW UPDATE].

• Post flair includes:

  • [Concluded]
  • [Ongoing]
  • [New Update]
  • [Inconclusive]
  • [Ongoing]
  • [Confirmed/Suspected Fake]

• Sources can include but are not limited to:

  • [Lemmy]
  • [Reddit]
  • [AAM] - Ask A Manager
  • [CA] - Captain Awesome

In Addition:

Certain topics such as divorce, cheating or posts dealing with revenge, retaliation or hostility may have a higher bar for submission. Sensitive or grim content may be removed. You should also avoid injecting personal opinion or bias into the post. These are better saved for the comment section. Editor’s notes are okay, but should be clearly labeled as such.

If you get comments that your post doesn’t belong or isn’t bestof, you can report them under the META comment rule. Those types of comments are allowed if it’s under the stickied Moderator message on your post.

Do not include your own personal judgements or opinions in the body of your post. Personal opinions should be saved for the comment section.

Content curation is up for mod discretion.
