Paper straws and electric cars aren’t radical change, they’re incremental. We’re so far past the point where paper straws will make a meaningful impact, and electric cars are still largely just as bad for the environment in the majority of regions where electricity is not renewable, but these aren’t even meaningful arguments to have because even if everyone in the entire world who drives a car switched to magical solar powered EVs overnight that’s still only 10% or so of global emissions.

The majority of emissions do not come from individuals, they come from corporations. Industrial agriculture, power generation (which increasingly goes to data centers), manufacturing, etc. are what emit most of the CO2 and consume most of the water.

The only way forward is to destroy capitalism, green consumerism won’t save us.
