We host wikis on behalf of game studios and other companies using MediaWiki. Weird Gloop began as a company formed in 2018 to move the RuneScape Wiki from Fandom to an independent website, and we’ve since helped other wikis do the same thing, including the Minecraft Wiki and League of Legends Wiki.

While we’re on the topic, for wikis currently on Fandom, there’s also replacing “fandom” in the URL on fandom wikis with “antifandom”. For example, change minecraft.fandom.com to minecraft.antifandom.com. It’ll remove the crap formatting and ads everywhere and put it back to the useful format fandom wikis used to use around 2008ish, pre-being-gobbled-up.

You can archive fandom sites using wikiteam3. You can also create a browsable offline zim of that archive that will lose the fandom theme but keep the content. It’s a bit of a convoluted process though.

If you actually follow that example of typing minecraft.antifandom.com it does have a page telling you about minecraft.wiki, and a big button to click to go there.

Should I change the example to something else?

Yea. Fandom is like that one friend in college who apologizes about their place being a mess, but how bad can it be? We all had a messy place, during finals week. Then we accidentally land at their place… and we all silently vow to never even acknowledge the existence of their place, again.

The last/only blog post from them was Oct 2024. I see nothing on their site about how or why to use their services, or what they’re even offering.
