Generally it’s fine to remove those but I would consider having it put back on if you live anywhere that gets snow. Reason being is that this plate protects undercarriage parts from excessive corrosion as a result of salt on the roads. So your car isn’t going to break down if you remove it, but if you plan to keep the car long-term, it can extend the life of those parts. As someone who works on my own car and has also had several 15+ year old vehicles, I can attest that this plate does indeed reduce corrosion in those areas.

The sad part about that is building a PC is easier than ever. I hadn’t built one in over a decade and was shocked to find out that everything is toolless and just snaps right into place! The only part that’s maybe intimidating for newbies is putting the thermal paste down without making a mess but even then, you just go slow and take your time and you’ll be fine.

There are a strange amount of people who seem to hate the idea of asexuality and this unfortunately includes people from all swaths of life like the LGBTQ+ community. I’ve seen too many gay people say hurtful, and frankly hypocritical, things along the lines of asexuality not existing and being more akin to a disease. It seems that while more people have become aware and accepting of homosexuality, they still don’t understand asexuality and it scares them. Sad really. But luckily there are still lots of kind souls out there that will be accepting of anyone who’s accepting in return. Maybe they can show everyone else the way…

I genuinely don’t know how chipotle has survived this long when excellent family run Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen all over the country and are super cheap to boot. I’ve tried it a few times and just never understood what people liked about it that you can’t get at your local Mexican joint.

They are also more nutritious in the off-season because they have to wait for the fruit/vegetables to ripen before freezing as opposed to picking unripe and using treatments to ripen in storage. Though I prefer to get stuff from my own garden and process enough to have during the winter so I know I’m always eating nutritious food from my garden year-round. Understandably unattainable for some however.

I second the freezer meals! What I like to do is make things that I can make a very large batch of to make food prep easier when I want a quick healthy meal. My favorites to make are chicken pot pie, pesto, kale pesto, pulled pork (not healthy), and falafel. All of these things take lots of time and or ingredients. So when you make them, you make a big massive batch and then divide them into meal portions for freezing. This way all I have to do is grab 1 portion of say pot pie, thaw it out in hot water or in the fridge the day before, pop it in the oven with some pie crust or crescent rolls on top for 25 min and BAM, I’m eating stuff from my garden in the middle of winter with little to no effort!

I LOVE this sweet potato and peanut stew we found. We originally tried it when looking for easy camping meals, but it’s so good we just keep making it. I’m not even vegan, but it’s so hearty and filling. People we make it for often ask if we’re sure there’s no meat in it. Best part is it only takes 30 minutes to make and uses relatively cheap ingredients. I’ve actually seen 2 recent practices that I hate more than this. While this is frustrating, at least you can input a custom tip. I’ve also seen them where they show 3 different dollar amounts that don’t indicate percentage but doing the math, it’s definitely way over the usual 20%. Then there’s the one I hate the most which I keep seeing at places where you don’t usually tip. You go to pay with your card and the little transaction/card machine shows different tip amounts, the default of which is already set. If you don’t want to leave a tip, you have to figure out which button to push to do so. They’re all different and it can be very confusing. I even saw one where each option was labeled in correlation with a button on the screen, except that they didn’t match up. And what do you do then? Ask the person at the register how not to tip them?

I’ve experienced this to a similar degree. Most of my family are small town people and I grew up without money in a small town. I moved to Chicago where I’ve been relatively successful and want to share some of the experiences I’ve had with the people I love. But I think the best test of whether or not I can actually include someone in certain activities is how they show up to a funeral. The reason that this is a good test is because you can tell who put in even a smidgen of effort to try to look nice and be respectful and who didn’t. And having grown up without a lot of money, I can tell you right now that it doesn’t cost much to go to the thrift store to get something that looks even a little bit nice even if it’s not standard. The last funeral I went to, you could immediately tell which family members didn’t try at all and just showed up in sweat pants and tshirts. Those are the people I wouldn’t take to certain places. Id maybe take them to touristy places, but that’s about it.

One story my husband shared with me was when he and my dad stopped into a local bar after working hard on home renovations all day. They planned to get some dinner and have some beer after a hard day’s work but needed to wash their very dirty hands first. So they went back into the bathroom and washed their hands. Well apparently that was too “gay” for the owner of the bar and they went over to the bathroom and started saying things like “I don’t know what you think you’re doing in there” and “I just need to make sure you’re not doing anything funny”. So they ended up just leaving while the guy yelled at them saying they had to buy something.

A slightly different version of this concept also happened to my husband. At one point, 2 of our lady friends were talking about fashion and my husband, who is MUCH more fashionable than I am, chimed in. They proceeded to tell him that he’s “not allowed to have an opinion because he’s a man” which is the most double standard bullshit I’ve ever heard come out of any of my friends mouths. It’s stuck with me for a long time now because I think it keeps me honest with myself about standards and reminds me to think about how opinions change when you flip genders.

I always refused to put work apps on my personal phone because they would make you agree to some bullshit where they could remote access your phone or potentially wipe it. So I would refuse and say they needed to provide a company phone for me if it was that important. Most companies are either ok with this or provide a phone, except for one company. This was a software company, and literally everything else about this company was a unicorn of a job. But for some reason they wanted me to have slack on my phone and also wouldn’t give me a company phone. So I dug up an old phone, reset it to factory settings, and added slack to that so I could say I did it. Then I put the phone away and they never asked about it again. So I really don’t know what the point of that was 🤷
