LOL. I mainly got the idea of using genetic modification to increase diversity of a small population from the book Seveneves.

It seems very plausible that if you can make a generation ship, you could make something like CRISPR to artificially increase genetic diversity/eliminate potential birth defects. Or perhaps just store genetic material for more people than the actual colonists on the ship. You’d probably want to hedge your bets in case there’s a low survival rate. There’s a lot that could go wrong. Ecosystem failure, negative effects of radiation, or just good old fashioned murder.
So, you know, maybe institute term limits instead of going full fascism. Star Wars is so unrealis…oh.

I think life situation is probably more important than strictly age. If you’re an independent 30 year old working a full time job you probably don’t want to date a college student that lives with their parents.
Oh I watched a little of that but not much. Had forgotten all about him.
Is that a muppet?

It’s scene stuff, probably taken from usenet. They use it there because files are often incompete and you want smaller chunks for parity purposes. There’s no real advantage for torrents.
They’re pretty common on raw denim, especially if it’s unsanforized (i.e. not preshrunk). It’s basically because when jeans stretch and shrink zippers can look weird (have you ever gotten that weird pants boner around the zipper?). They also have a fade pattern that’s pretty classic. I dont think they’re any less convenient than a zipper once they’re broken in and you’re used to them.

It also sounds like they targeted you specifically while you were waiting in line. So not only did they only approach you about it when they could’ve asked anybody, they approached you in a place where it’s hard for you to just walk away. That’s sus to me, I think your instincts were right to not give them an in.

Bit rude, yeah, but sometimes it’s better to be rude than let someone cross your boundaries. How much more awkward is it if you say “yes” or “maybe” and then they ask if they can borrow your phone or something and you have to evaluate whether you trust this random person while they’re looking right at you? A lot of people are definitely asking this way because it gets you to let your guard down and they know you would’ve said no if they’d just straight asked. Personally I tend to respond with “you can ask” or something like that. Making it pretty clear that I’m skeptical of what they’re going to ask. But my default assumption of other people in a city is that they’re potentially either trying to scam me or rob me.

Well, being pardoned wouldn’t shield them from civil liability. So assuming they still have money (trials are generally pretty expensive)there could be a lot of lawsuits incoming.

I just dont think you have as many short haul flights in the US where this sort of thing would not be as big of a deal. Nothing to do with safety.

In Europe on airlines like Ryanair, definitely. I don’t know if I see them taking off in the US.

I’m sure the majority of reddit users either don’t know or don’t care about the events of two summers ago. And with reddit cracking down on more and more content…they may not even know about all of the stuff reddit is cracking down on. How long until a crackdown on posts about reddit cracking down?
Especially from the front or back. It’s hard to even comprehend that it’s a car. I was very shocked the first time I saw one.

Just throwing this out there…you can just hop over to another instance and voila! No bans.
(This seems like a flaw in the fediverse model, given how easy it is to instance hop.)

Definitely shopped.

My brain totally just ignored that it was in the wrong order.

Well that and they view race as so fundamental to someone’s identity that if they’re portrayed with another skin color it fundamentally changes the character.
I’m fine with competitive sheep herding but I’m definitely not dipping into Ranked.
