Not exactly a dwindling market except in the US
It’s not even really “two companies”. Nvidia has 92% of the entire market. And the reason for that is mostly CUDA and its ecosystem which has become widespread among developers.
No need to worry about retirement, most of us will die in the climate wars anyway.
Not too old though. I’ve seen too many people over 85 in my family slowly fade and it’s not pretty. I’d opt for the “one and done” if possible.

As soon as you come into serious money, no matter how exactly, your empathy for fellow human beings goes out the window FAST. There are people who can withstand this and not succumb to it, but they’re exceedingly rare.
This has been scientifically tested and proven time and again. Mo’ money = less empathy.

Same. I feel like Lemmy is really a lot like early Reddit (pre 2012) and the sizes of the communities are perfect. You can actually contribute to a discussion instead of drowning in 20k inane joke posts.
Some niches remain underpopulated but I feel like this will eventually rectify itself as the more critical and thoughtful people move away from vapid platforms like Reddit, FB or IG. We’ll continue to welcome them with open arms.
Just wait a year and they’ll throw them at you for free with another Samsung product because of overstock.
As much as I love this meme and the original, this was actually not a brainfart by Dubya. He just realized mid-sentence that the last part “Shame on me” could be used as a negative soundbite if cut. Or at least that’s how it was spun.
Most of the politicians in power over the last decade or so made their friends in private business incredibly rich. Just think of the millions of pounds spent on covid masks that were either not delivered at all or were of such poor quality that they wouldn’t offer any protection. No one went to jail for that, but plenty of MP’s got paid I’m willing to bet.
That’s where the bulk of that money went.
You are not your job, and your worth is not dependent on your economic output.
Took me decades to internalize this and I still occasionally struggle with it. But it’s good advice all the same.
I’m incredibly grateful that my oldest cat Terra is still with us. She’s currently palliative because of metastasized cancer in her right paw and there’s nothing the vets can do. But she was originally estimated to have days to weeks, and that was over three months ago and she’s still here and fighting. I’m just so glad for every extra day I get with her.
