24·25 days agomeanwhile American genocide day is a celebration holiday
For some. For others it’s Indigenous People Day.
That is basically a non-answer and doesn’t mean anything.
You struggling to understand a statement doesn’t make it a non-answer.
The reality is AI is classified a national security priority and therefore has the US govt to prevent it from running out of money.
Your conflating the current technology AI and AI companies.
but ultimately its the willingness of people/companies to use the AI that results in the win.
Ah, you’re one of those people.
There is no way it doesn’t get propped up by the government at this rate.
There absolutely is a way. It starts with people hold their governments and representatives accountable.
The AI companies can and absolutely should fail. AI itself isn’t going anywhere. That Genie is out of the box.
My thought is the AI market won’t crash because especially in data engineering and devops there is an inherent worth.
Did you see Anthropic’s IPO filing? The company is upside down and there’s so much commingling between 3 or 4 companies that when one goes the rest will topple like dominoes.
What won’t crash are the billionaires at the top. See, they’re going to cash out with piles of money and leave the index fund investors (e.g. the every day person) holding the bag.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL about Emma Sulkowicz who carried the mattress she was raped on every day at Columbia until her rapist was expelled. He never was.English
23·1 month agoI’m not misunderstanding you. I think your struggling to follow your own conversation.

You brought up FACE, an organization concerned with Title IX enforcement specifically.
The other user explained they are given due process (under Title IX) and explained (poorly) that private colleges are not bound by the same rules if they don’t take government funding, expressed as government run.
Then you shifted it to some conversation about basic human rights and questioned what not being government run has to do with.
Which is why I shared the federal government page outlining Title IX exemptions.
Due process is covered under the 5th and 14th amendments, not Title IX.
Remember this:

Where you cited a Wikipedia article about an organization concerned with Title IX to justify your claim they’re not given “due process”.
It’s either bad faith or stupidity. Either way, I’m done engaging with it.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL about Emma Sulkowicz who carried the mattress she was raped on every day at Columbia until her rapist was expelled. He never was.English
55·1 month agoHow are they being denied basic human rights?
Title IX is very specific and the organization you refer to, FACE, specifically states their goal in relation to title IX.
I can’t tell if your arguing in bad faith or you don’t understand title IX compared to other laws that would apply.

72·1 month agoSo many of them do not. Why does not being run by the government exempt schools from applying basic human rights?
Your question is a little hyperbolic since what your talking about is title IX specifically, not “human rights” in general.
You can read about title IX exemptions here.

Maybe direct your overly aggressive anger at him then?
Fuck off. Comparing the impeccably-researchedwork of one of the most famous reporters in history, based on his own firsthand experiences in the meatpacking plants and interviewing the workers thereof… To fucking Calvin and Hobbes?
I made no comparison. I took the opportunity to recommend one of my favorite books in return.
Now I am sorry you misunderstood, but I personally find your language and communication style to be abusive, so I am going to block you.
I hope you have a pleasant morning/day/evening.

312·1 month agoCall me sceptical but I doubt a fiction book published ~120 years ago predicted the recall of 167000 pounds of meat in 2026 and then went further to outline how it was directly related to the recent deregulation by the Trump administration.
Perhaps you’d like to be a little more verbose and expand on this comment?
