The first movie is pretty good IMO, but that’s because it gets to introduce all of the creative (if highly derivative) world building.

Past that, they rely more and more on quality of writing more than merely existing in a neat (if a bit nonsensical and still highly flawed) world. So… yeah, entertainment value dips off pretty hard.

Not that JK rowling deserves the benefit of the doubt (definitely not), but teenagers and many children would definitely do such a cruel thing without understanding why it’s so cruel.
