Shotguns and swords missing is so painful. They’re usually so reliable that it feels like a guarantee!

Since streaming became a thing, I could probably only name a handful of artists I’ve discovered. I just pick a genre and let the algorithm decide.
About 6 months ago, I started self-hosting my music, and it’s a game changer. It feels like much more intentional consumption of media.

I’m amazed that GameStop has this much money.

I’m not sure if I can search for tags. I just tried and nothing came up, but it’s also possible that the search function in the mobile app I’m using isn’t the full search.
Very cool idea though!

What would that look like? Maybe some sort of system where you could assign your site tags (e.g. star trek, linux, cats) and people could navigate by a relevant topic?

Whoa, this is neat too. I could imagine some good use cases for this.

Ooh, I had no idea! Is there a catch?

Very cool! Banner ads are a must, lol
Side note: I’m not sure what terminology to use. I’ve seen “small web”, “indie web”, “intentional internet”. I’m not sure if they’re all referring to the same thing or mean something slightly different.

Awesome! I imagine the resources to learn html and CSS are so much easier to find these days. I haven’t done anything like that since Myspace.
Is there anywhere that people are exchanging tips and tricks for getting started? I’d rather not go to reddit (I saw that there was a subreddit when searching for these screenshots) unless I have to.

How did they manage to do this so close, but 3 days late?

At least Mastodon is properly federated. The benefits of decentralization sort of make this a waste of money/resources, right?
I remember when this was happening to Lemmy all the time too.

How would it not be? Every industry creates product to meet demand. They aren’t going to produce more or less just for fun.

Impact on price: probably negligible.
Impact on production: the average amount of meat that 1 person eats x the number of people choosing alternatives, over a period of time.
Reverse image search has mixed results… A few say Florida, but the top one says Wyoming. I’d guess the one that says Jacksonville, Florida is most likely.
This is the part in Sim City where I restart.
So how does that work? Do you just have an AI listening throughout the session like a note-taker?

I truly think most people would be receptive to the idea if they could just hear about it. The big corporate sites have so many problems.
Our two biggest obstacles in my opinion: a) the “instances” setup is mildly confusing for new users. b) Once you get here, the predominant culture is pretty homogenous and, to put it politely, politically intense.

Nice. We definitely need stuff like this to get the message out there that alternatives exist.

I think it’s the harsh consonant sounds. I’m not a linguist and am sure there’s some term for it, but it seems like we identify words in English more from the distinct “framing” of the consonants and are more flexible about hearing variations in how the vowel sounds in between are pronounced.
For example, it’s the same reason that whispering (which largely takes out tone/pitch of vowel sounds) is super easy in English, but more difficult in some other languages.
Only one way to find out.
