As an American, Scots are the most difficult to understand. Most Brits, Welsh and Irish are fine. Australians and New Zealanders, too. Canadians can be almost indistinguishable to me with the exception of a couple of words here and there.

LOC is a terrible metric. The worst programmer I ever had work for me had the highest LOC of anyone on the team, and his code was crap that barely worked.

I’ve got a couple of files from the '80s originally created with AppleWorks. I can open some of them with LibreOffice (yay for opensource!), for some of the others I have to use Sheepshaver (Mac OS 9 emulator). I keep them for nostalgia reasons.

In addition to the caps and pots, have you checked the condition of the power cord? Depending on age/storage condition it might need replacing if it has become cracked or stiff.

The Founders created the impeachment process without consideration for political parties. They naively assumed Congress would act in accordance with the Constitution and standard jurisprudence with no regard for ideology. While it hasn’t always been this way, there are really only two parties that matter at the Federal level. The House of Representatives, which is responsible for determining whether a trial is appropriate (similar to a Grand Jury), is controlled by Republicans. They won’t even consider holding impeachment hearings, let alone recommend a trial in the Senate. The Senate, also controlled by Republicans, would likely do the same thing they did twice during his first term, which is essentially nothing.

Could stop him or would stop him? SCOTUS has granted him blanket immunity for anything done as an “official act”, without bothering to specify exactly what an official act is. This has opened up a Pandora’s Box, needless to say. They’re literally expanding the power of the President, not limiting it.

Congress, since it is fully GOP-dominated, will neither impeach him nor attempt to override any veto should they pass laws to curtail his activities. Not that they would, of course.

The military has a duty to follow the Constitution and is supposed to disregard any orders to the contrary. But whether the military will act according to Trump or the Constitution is an open question. Remember, Trump has removed a number of senior officers whose loyalty to him was in question. And there are a lot of right-wing extremist types in the lower ranks of the military.

In short, we’re probably FUCKED.

California could pull this off, given its industry, agriculture, and Pacific seaports. New York, where I live, has lost too much industry and agriculture to be self-sufficient. Joining Canada, though, could help assuage some of those deficits.
