  • Yeah like I said your in your phase of socialist development where you’ve accepted that the west is evil, but you have yet to deprogram yourself from the propaganda about its adversaries. So you see both the west, and its enemies, as the problem. Which is incoherent. I do not think anyone exists who thinks a government is perfect, but China is very clearly much better in many ways than any western government, and that is the very reason most of the global south looks to China in friendship.

It’s a common mindset to go through. I hope you can get through it in a productive way.

  • A failure? What’s that even mean? Do we measure our success by how useful a specific capitalist organization finds us at any given moment? You aren’t a failure. You are just another person trying to make ends meet and getting screwed over by the system. Doing the best you can like anyone else.

    Here’s a checklist:

Can you pay your bills for the next 6 months? If no, figure out how to fix that ASAP.

Do you know what you want to do next? If no, start pondering on it.

Have you taken advantage of any support that is out there for you? Unemployment for example. If no, do it.

If all of those are handled then you are good to take a breath and just figure your shit out. Maybe try to do something you didn’t have the time to before. Spend more time with family. Something like that. Whatever it is that would make you happy right now.

  • I’m the same. I have to be careful how I phrase things because it can sound transphobic if like someone asks you what you are and you just say “Well I have x genitals so just go with that I guess?” because you just don’t care. Like call me whatever you want. want me to wear a certain type of clothing because of some social convention? Sure idc. I’ll wear a dress, or a suit. Don’t care. I just don’t want to pay for them. I 100% support anyone doing anything they want with their gender. Let me know what you want to be called, and remind me if I slip up because I don’t even remember peoples names most of the time, but I’ll say what you want me to say. But for me personally? You can call me anything you want. He, Her, They, It, Dumbass, Tankie, .ml, shut the fuck up, etc It don’t bother me one bit.

  • I don’t see what this has to do with trans people? As if people of the same sex at birth can’t end up with wildly different weights as well? Like a 200lbs woman beating the shit out of a 100lbs woman wouldn’t be allowed in any sport. So why would it suddenly be allowed if the 200lbs woman is trans? Also, “unfair” gets me here. Sports aren’t fucking fair! That’s the entire point. It’s a physical competition where some people have an inherent advantage due to genetics. Trans people existing doesn’t change that, and doesn’t make it any less fair. This just reeks of you seeing all these “no men in womens sports” arguments and not taking the time to actually examine if those arguments are valid or not.

  • I think you need to realize her concerns are entirely valid. Everything could go great and you could both have 1 working kidney then live long lives after. You could die on the table. You could give him your kidney and then 10 years from now your remaining one has an issue and then your on dialysis. etc. Your daughter is not wrong to be scared/concerned. You are not wrong to want to help your friend. Both of you have valid feelings about this. You just need to talk about them. In person preferably. Not over an email. Explain to her why doing this is so important to you. Make plans for what happens if the worst outcome happens. You need to seriously ask yourself: “Will my family be okay if I die on the table?” before you go do it. Because if the answer is no and you haven’t considered that yet it’s something you need to think about.

I hope everything goes well and you help your friend and both of you are fine. But I also hope you go into this understanding your daughters concerns, and being fully aware of all the risks.
