Good lord, you expect everything to just be free? To expect you get basic needs at zero cost is a tad out of touch with reality. I get it, nothing is fair, but you are looking at this all wrong.

You were complaining about paying for things needed to survive. It’s nobodies problem but your own that you love in an apartment. The cost of that type of dwelling. Speaking of, you don’t need to live there either and pay for a mortgage or rent. You have the option to build your own shelter in the woods. But it’s pretty nice to not have to do that right?

You don’t need to pay for either. Collect and treat your own water from a stream. Go hunting or foraging.
At the end of the day you are paying for the convenience to not have to do that.

Because knowledge is power.
But also it depends. Learn on the job is a thing too in some industries, and in some people can do quite well for themselves here.
It also costs money to make money, if you have a lot of it you can make it work for you and make even more than someone who doesn’t have it. This is why kids of rich ass parents get it so easy.

Same boat but there’s some moves happening lately that aim to change those laws

That’s incredible. I used to have a hard drive I lost years ago with tons of obscure stuff and I was never able to find a lot of it again.
Edit:
Nobody is concerned about privacy? Seems to work a lot like bittorrent, exposing your IP

TIL. I’m picky but not that picky. I’ll have to give it another shot.

I have never used soulseek. Isn’t this basically just Napster/kazaa/bearshare/limewire kind of deal? Wouldn’t it be loaded with garbage with bad tags?

Netflix booba, but there are no subtitles.

The amount of headaches I had setting this up… I can’t tell you how hard I tried.
I think in the end I figured out it doesn’t like vlans very much if you don’t want to use their relay.

I’ve been using nextcloud for years for this. Using Android and Linux and Windows.
Man I use Windows 11 daily for work and I can’t stand how fucking buggy and clunky everything is. It’s so bad.
Once in a while I’ll boot my Linux desktop and it’s just… Bliss. Other than that I spend a lot of time on my steam deck, love that too.
Their IP space would be public knowledge. If you’re connected to their VPN it would be pretty easy to figure out.

Like ham radio ppl

I didn’t either, but I started using floccus and syncing my bookmarks across my 2 computers and phone. In a pinch it works great for those obscure websites I don’t frequently visit.

Yeah I use plexamp a lot too and finamp is rough and reminds me of Android apps from 2012.
I also had weird quirks in the past where shows would crash and stop streaming or it would forget my position I stopped watching at, among other things.
And the hardest one is the manual labour I put in to make lists and fetch missing metadata that was actually accurate.

100%, why I love my open source.

It is not

New 3400$ laptop this year. I’ve had it for 5 months.
Sometimes the display driver wigs out and my cursor is permanently glitched until reboot.
Other times my browser is so sluggish until I close and restart it.
Sometimes my keyboard and mouse cut out, and I get repeated keystrokes for a few seconds or a brief period where it ignores my key presses.
I have so many more complaints about windows but I’d probably reach a character limit.
You know it’s bad when I boot my manjaro Linux desktop for the first time in months and the first thing I notice is how fast everything is to load.
Weird, I don’t feel angry, if anything you probably got an eye roll out of me lol
