Did those early Roadsters have self driving tech? I thought they were more barebones sports cars, not like the current gimmick-dumpsters.

My guess is that with TV/Movies streaming you generally sit down to consume a given piece of content in chunks of minimum 1hr, and people rarely watch an episode of one show back to back with another show. So having that content fragmented between services doesn’t provide much friction to normal viewing.

Contrast that with music, where having to switch services to listen to a different album would be extremely disruptive to the way most people listen. The only way that would work is if the separate services were generally clustered by genre, like radio. Having said that, I’m a little surprised that niche music streaming services haven’t popped up (like how you have Crunchyroll for anime, for example).

It sounded like he was being sloppy about stitching together the audio from multiple takes, rather than a distinct decision.

But yeah, I can’t stand that condensed run-on-sentence editing style that so many youtubers have adopted. It has an uncanny valley quality to it that’s off-putting.

People act like this is some kind of mysterious system, when it all boils down to one simple thing: If you want people to give you favorable terms when asking to borrow their money, then establish a history of being a reliable money-borrower! It’s not rocket science!

Open a credit card or two. Make all your purchases on them (borrow money), and pay off the balance every month (pay back the money). You will never pay a penny in interest or fees, you will easily earn 1-2% cash back, and you have a small buffer in case of setbacks.

Being financially conservative–i.e., saving a lot and never borrowing/repaying money–may be a moral virtue, but it does nothing to establish you as someone who has a history of paying back borrowed money.

I wish there was a setting in sonarr to only grab released episodes (like radarr has) bit it seems like blocking extensions is the way to go.

On the one hand, as someone who likes to use their garage for garage stuff in addition to storing my car in it, I feel his pain at the too-short garage.

You probably need be at least familiar with RPG/fantasy tropes to fully enjoy it, but it definitely felt like it came from a place of love and self-awareness, rather than the cynical cash-grab I was expecting.

I refuse to use a case on principle. The idea that you need a case to protect a phone from everyday use is so ass-backwards it hurts my brain. (and was not always the situation!)

It would be so much more space, weight, and cost efficient to simply engineer in the durability provided by a case through the use of proper materials and construction. But apparently marketing thinks nobody would buy a phone that looks and feels out of the box the way a phone with a case feels. So we end up with these thin, elegant, glass and polished aluminum devices… that most of the population has to immediately hide inside a bulky plastic/rubber case to have a chance of surviving 6 months.

Imagine if a carmaker sold a premium vehicle with a polished metal and glass exterior that you had to protect under a vinyl wrap to keep it from rusting and chipping under normal use… they’d be a laughing stock!

Not sure, how old I was, probably 10-12. This one isn’t so much classic nightmare, but left me extremely unsettled for weeks and still gives me the heebie jeebies when I think about it.

In my dream I was at an event for returning space shuttle astronauts who had just landed. Apparently there was some major problem during reentry, and most of the crew didn’t make it, but one had barely survived. When they brought out the surviving astronaut for an interview or whatever, the dude was literally just a naked human nervous system in a NASA spacesuit. Where his head would have been was the classic anatomy textbook image of just the brain with eyes floating in front of it, supported by a spinal cord. No bones, no muscle, unable to talk or anything. I remember the head was gently bobbing from side to side a few inches, and every so often the “head” would just rapidly spin around a few revolutions, then stop and continue bobbing eerily.

Same here. I think it was more like $300 for a pair of matching rings from a small etsy seller though. Hers with moissinite, mine with an inlay of copper and titanium shaving for some color.

I’d ask the inverse. What definition of “inside” can you apply to a traditional bottle–so as to say that a ship is inside the bottle–that could not also be applied to a Klein bottle? Both of them have a single opening that leads to an enclosed, dead-ended volume.

A Klein bottle may only have one surface, and therefore you can argue it has no topological inside. But a traditional bottle is topologically equivalent to a flat disc, so the same logic would say you can’t put a ship inside one of those either.

I just searched it a bit, and I think you’re right. I was thinking the paid tier only let you use port forwarding and access their servers optimized for P2P traffic, but it sounds like they actually block P2P traffic on the free tier.

Technically you can torrent with it, but the free tier does not include port forwarding, so you will not be able to seed very effectively.

Edit: disregard, I was remembering incorrectly.

Have you looked into Remote Path mappings? I have not had to employ this myself, but my understanding is this allows you to avoid file duplication when your *arr and torrent client are using different filesystems.

Maybe I’m mis-remembering though…

Maybe a dumb question, but have you enabled port forwarding in your torrent client and ensured that the VPN server you are connected to allows port forwarding? Proton has decent documentation on how to do this, but it’s not obvious if you didnt already know you needed port forwarding.

This had me tripped up for nearly a full year after I got back into torrenting.

Beginner here (to Linux and networking anyways), running Unraid for about 18 months now. Fully agree, it’s been great for actually getting up and doing useful things quickly and relatively pain free.

Eventually I would like to try working backwards and getting things running on a more “traditional” server environment, but Unraid has been a great learning tool for me personally.

It’s like… Maybe some folks learned to overhaul an engine before they got their driver’s license, but lots of people just need to a car to get to work and back today, and they can learn to change their oil and do a brake job when the time comes.
