Sounds like it might be worth keeping a change of clothes and shoes down there. Imagine if you ended up down there in your pajamas.

(Not trying to lecture you, this is something I hadn’t really considered before either.)

• It says in the article they were selling them. I think this is illegal in most countries with planned economies because they don’t want a capitalist market to develop in parallel with the planned system (the entire point of economic planning was to eliminate markets after all).
• They were producing their computers using components that were stolen from government factories. This wasn’t a novel design, and the name wasn’t their’s either, they were just assembling CoBra computers (itself a clone of the British ZX spectrum) outside of the factory they were normally produced in, using the same components the factory used to produce them.

I should note that the article also says that ordinary people couldn’t ‘purchase’ (exchange vouchers for) these computers, so this is the only way they would be able to attain one. The government hadn’t allocated any of them for use by the general population. So, make of that what you will.

Folks like Gianni Matragrano and Andrew Hulshult seem to do alright that way.

Chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate and other fatty acids with organosulfate head groups, which are much more powerful surfactants than the fatty acid sodium salts you get by reacting lye with a fat (like vegetable oil). “Traditional” soaps like that also contain glycerol (formed when the lye cleaves the glycerol backbone off of a triglyceride), which acts as a humectant moisturizer.

Technically, at least in the US, chemicals like SLS aren’t legally classified as soap, and must be called a detergent. Which is why so many products are called things like “body wash” and “body bar”, and you wont find the word “soap” on their packaging.

In my opinion a single weird person doesn’t warrant an entire complaint post with 100+ comments of discussion (which, yes, I know I am adding to).

As an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure I recommend those tiny rubber stoppers you see in the photo. They have a peel and stick part that goes under your case which retains the plug on a strip of rubber. That strip might wear out in a few years and rip, but they cost almost nothing to replace (and in fact come in packs).

Phones used to have these things built in, then they stopped in the smartphone era because they didn’t look as sleek and futuristic I guess. Now, if you have a case, it once again makes hardly any difference to the appearance.

I agree with you then, you can’t make a good webpage if your boss tells you to fill it with garbage.

If your motivation is to see old html pages, with minimal style, well it’s impossible to do them reliably.

Not only should your site be legible without JS, it should be legible without CSS, and infact without rendering the effects of the HTML tags (plain text after striping the tags).

At one point in time this was the standard, that each layer was an enhancement on top of the one below it. Its seems that web devs now cannot even imagine writing a news article or a blog post like, something that has the entirety of its content contained within its text. A plain .txt file renders “reliably” on anything. You are the one adding extra complexity in there and then complaining that you’re forced to add even more to deal with the consequences of your actions.

If by “take it into account” you mean they said “political parties sure are bad” then not implement anything into the system to discourage their formation, then proceed to form political parties themselves a decade or so later, then sure.

When you hear the term “red-green color blindness”, do you think that red and green appear grey to those people while they can still see orange, yellow, and blue the same as everyone else? And that they go through their lives with these super high contrast grey objects everywhere?

That’s not how eyes work. Color blindness means an inability to distinguish between shades of colors, not that they have some sort of selective filters that block those colors out, turn objects of that color invisible, or convert them to grey.

You think this because you live in a suburb where people feed them, “in a park”, or “bordering a forested area”. No unconditioned wild animal in the world, except maybe things that live on tiny islands with no predators, is chill with an unknown human sized animal standing next to it.

When I hike I sometimes see deer as close as a hundred feet or so away, but if one started walking towards me I would consider that behavior so far out of the ken that I might think it has rabies or wasting disease.

The thing to understand about large organizations is that appearances matter a lot and the people working in them have to look busy. This is well known phenomenon among low level employees but it applies to managers and even executives too (who have to put on a show that they’re increasing shareholder value and that their company is special somehow).

So, why do advertisers care if someone says “fuck” but not about someone whose spewing pseudointellectual misogynistic bullshit? Because there’s someone whose job description is “brand value” and if they’re not upset about something then they don’t look busy. The amount of “fucks” per minute is a really simple metric that (now that speech recognition is as good as it is) is really easy to measure. In other words its an easy way to look busy.

Of course it doesn’t hurt that the guy’s boss is probably a conservative anyway, and so doesn’t mind the misogyny so much, but looking busy is the main reason.

How about Deus Ex: Transcended?

I think that was the patch I ended up using my first playthrough (I’m away from my computer at the moment or else I’d check), but I might want to use something else my second time.

How does this compare to other community patches in your opinion?
