Most independents I know are very progressive but don’t pick a team. They defined their political views on an issue by issue basis. The problem with picking a team is picking that identity and letting the party dictate what you should think. Being a proper independent takes more work. You have to read into each candidate not just pick a letter.

Also you have tactical voting. I vote in every primary as a Republican to put the progressive in the best position then vote against them in the general if that makes sense for that race. Sometimes the progressive are not running in that district so in that case you vote the moderate Republican in the primary to do the least amount of harm to progressives.

I honesty wish more progressives would run in Republicans races incognito. so we can fuck up their numbers like Sinema or Fetterman.

Of course what I mean is with the people I’m dealing with. For example airline flight crew goes on strike. The guy at the ticket counter is not the one that did it. But I would blow up the executives in a heart beat.

The moment I get inconvenienced and hear its about a strike. I never blame the workers and my annoyance is halved.

Note I don’t mind them at all changing the race of a character. But swapping gingers for another race just doesn’t seem like progress to me. Just shows they are only willing to make superficial changes. Instead of making awesome characters that just happen to be black or any other race or identity. Them writing a black sidekick or supporting character makes them just one dimensional.

I would like characters of all color, shapes, sexual preferences where their trait they don’t have a choice in becomes their whole personality.

That’s why old school star trek got it. Uhura was not on the bridge to tell black stories. She was there to be apart of the team that just happened to be black. It could have been better in terms of screen time but the core idea is still relevant today. A more modern example of them doing this really right was Brooklyn 99 with Captain Holt. That show showed him being a Captain and a father figure first. Him having a husband and being gay was shown as being what it is, Normal.

Wait till you see the red heads being turned into black characters pattern.

The problem with that is AI is not AI at all. Its a text prediction and generation based on probabilities. That’s all it does it doesn’t think at all. AI is a marketing term to sucker investors. AI will happen but not with the current paradigm. Just throwing a bigger dataset just makes the illusion more convincing. Like parrot with a bigger vocabulary.

That’s why face to face organizing is critical. Small groups distributed with common goal. None of that let’s change our profile pictures bullshit. Building real connections, is key. Internet activism is a lie. It is doing nothing but it makes you fill like you did something and social media companies use that to control the masses into apathy.

I’m not saying communication is not important but it will be on private point to point communication with in your local network. Also using stuff like Meshtactic or ham radios are great for emergency response. Be it natural disasters or human caused crises.

Correct it is just surviving but its also organizing around those projects to create a community that protects the community. In turn that creates a resistance to the oppression.

This is going to sound counter Intuitive to the Emotional need for revolution. But the best way to fight back is community networks and finding what is needed by marginalized groups and create programs that help those groups and organize around that action. Also making those networks distributed so it makes it harder for Authoritarians to squash but you can still navigate between the networks to get the resources you need.

A good example of this was the breakfast programs the black panthers started. If you read how the government tried to dismantle those programs and failed. You will see how effective they can be.
