

I don’t doubt thread is getting better and could be the more future proof of them all but i bought some zigbee motion sensors for less than $10 and haven’t changed the battery in them in nearly two years. When thread devices are that cheap and can run on battery that long i’ll gladly recommend them too. For now, for beginners, i like to recommend zigbee for it’s low cost in both money and power usage.


It is as vast and customizable as it gets. The sky, and your imagination, is the limit. I’ve been at it for years and i’m still tinkering with automations and services. It’s biggest strength, in my eyes, is being able to run everything local and off line. My advice is to start with zigbee so as to not congest your Wi-Fi traffic and add in zwave where the budget allows and range is needed.

I don’t know if this is true but i once read that when classifying lighter-than-air ships they broke them down into two categories. A rigid and B limp and that’s where the name blimp comes from.
Since you’ve got an open outlet you should consider putting a dehumidifier next to it with a drain that empties into the sump.


I hope someone else knows a better way to do this because it would appear it is somewhat possible but not easy.
Subsonic servers, such as navidrome, offer the ability to “SyncPlayQueue” via api to specific players, but in the case of navidrome that does not included the web player or music assistant for home assistant (the later is an assumption as i was unable to find a setting to enable it).
For those who don’t care about home assistant they just need to find a player on the devices they want to transition music too and from that supports the feature.
For those who use home assistant and want to listen to music across devices you can transfer queue from within the music assistant player to a device added as a player or the app by picking “this device”. That only works if you’ve been playing music from your phone on a smart speaker, the music queue being played via web isn’t visible from the app and vice vera. It might be possible to set a web browser as a player to interact with but i imagine that would be a fragile setup at best.


Based on some older results i’ve found jellyfin isn’t set up to save play location in songs but if you ran the music folder as audio books it will. Not sure what that’ll do in regards to meta data but it’s only half the problem. I’d just as soon give up the time stamp memory if i could get playlist save state.


Credit where credit is do plexamp is the best option for what i want to achieve, I just hate having to authenticate through them and report the activity occurring between internal addresses.


I opened my server via web browser and started playing music and when i opened the app on my phone it didn’t show anything as playing. Either there’s a plugin i need to install, a setting i need to change, or it’s not an option with jellyfin.
So I understand this correctly, you’re using Fossify Calendar as the phone app that accesses your self-hosted calendar?


The arrs would be your best bet to reduce your input. If i’m not mistaken you can run them all through docker including a version of qbittorrentb that’s bound to a vpn and the only way it access the internet is through that vpn. Or you could split tunnel your vpn and bind your qbittorrent to it and bipass your jellyfin instance.
When i say that imagination is the limit i mean it. I ordered some car seat pressure sensors and soldered them to either end of a door contact sensor and put them under our couch cushions. Now i have a battery powered, zigbee based, way to override the motion based automation if we’re on the couch. The lights stay on if we’re too still or they stay off if we’re napping and a pet walks in.
I watched a video where a guy used meshtastic to reach the back of his property and those radios can run on solar.
