What are some of your favorite relaxing activities? Could be anything that puts your mind at ease, a relaxing game, a hobby, a place you visit or music.
I recently learned how to solve a Rubik’s cube :D
Is it relaxing while doing it? Or is it more a rush to solving it, with a satisfying eureka then?
I like that it requires enough concentration that I can catch my breath and focus on something else for a bit.
Sitting outside on the carport, with all my plants around me, and looking at the trees.
Cooking and brewing. It’s a process thing, so I can just sort of get into a flow state and zone out.
I’m a massive fan of stringing a hammock somewhere quiet and reading for a couple hours.
I also really enjoy flying kites. I live by the ocean, so there’s usually enough wind. Over the last couple years I have really gotten into quad-line stunt kites like the Revolution, I have a bunch of them and one just always lives in the trunk of my car for when I want to swing by and have a fly after work.
Thats a great reading setup! Are there any special books that come to mind?
There’s never really anything I habitually return to, I am pretty much just always reading some different sci-fi of some kind. Currently working on the Zones of Thought trilogy by Vernor Vinge. I finished the first book and was so absolutely ready to plow straight into the second book and follow the same characters and alien species through some new crazy adventure, but was met with a completely different set of characters and completely different aliens, which was a bit surprising. Still enjoying it, though!
Watching cat and pomeranian videos. I do that whenever I feel stressful.
I’m into the whole ASMR thing, but more toward the no talking and unintentional side of things. Restoration and…horse hoof trimming have been my gotos lately.
Also just spending an extra 30 seconds in the shower at the end, trying to get the water to bridge across my ears and white noise it!
trying to get the water to bridge across my ears and white noise it!
I think this was something i used to do as a child. thanks for the reminder :bloblaughing:
I learned so much from hoof trimming videos. They kinda make me cringe because it seems like they’re taking off so much at first, but at the end, it looks so nice and the horse is so happy.
Drawing. For me, drawing faces especially. I think it’s partly an excuse for staring at (a picture) of a person’s face too.
@iii oh this is mine too. i used to regularly follow sketch daily on reddit back when it was a good place. Now i cant find such a community on the fediverse. I’d love to sketch again. This is indeed relaxing!
There’s artshare@lemmy.world (:
