Canada requires permits. You carry a gun without a permit? Criminal charges.

Australia requires permits. You carry a gun without a permit? Criminal charges

France require permits. You carry a gun without a permit ? Criminal charges

“Other countries with access to guns”

You really don’t have a clue what you are talking about 🤦

This argument is usually followed by the racist dog whistle “it’s unfortunately our demographic”

Yeah, because Paris or London don’t have any black people, right…

THANK YOU for your attention to this matter.

For decades, Gun Cummers have masturbated furiously about how authoritarians would come and mass arrest them. This “threat” justified the unbridled ownership of guns, that every mentally ill moron should own a gun because they need to stop the government.

Now all of a sudden, I noticed they do nothing.

The Secretary of Homeland Security said, I’m quoting her words:

We are coming to liberate this city from the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country

    What happened? Nothing.

The military stormed Los Angeles. They started detaining american citizens without charges:

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/05/us-citizens-jailed-ice-los-angeles

    What happened? Nothing.

A US Senator was thrown on the floor and dragged out by thugs

    What happened? Nothing.

I have yet to see any evidence americans will “use their guns” against fascists.

This is simply cosplaying at this point.

If you were every heavily involved in the gun community, everything the president is doing, they agree with. They only care about non republicans coming after them, they don’t care if it’s their own team hurting them.

I don’t miss those assholes or the hoops they had to jump around to convince themselves they weren’t huge hypocrites.

Also many of them drink and carry, which is a felony.

The people who have traditionally yelled about 2A and “the gubmint” taking their guns are today’s fascists. Besides that, using firearms to topple a fascist regime that controls the most powerful military the world has ever seen will require a great deal of organization, planning, coordination, supply, and about ten times as many people doing non-“infantry” stuff to have a snowball’s chance in hell of being successful - let alone the political support of a whole lot of state and local governments.

Not sure what you think should be happening short of a full civil war. I mean, that’s what it’s gonna take, and that’s what’s gonna happen, but you can’t seriously think that the practical foundations are yet in place for it.

I think you’re kind of agreeing here. OP’s point is that the guns do nothing to stop the rise of fascism and they never will. This isn’t the 1700’s anymore, the playing field hasn’t been level since the civil war. So these clowns crowing about their guns are full of shit.

That they are trying to disarm their political adversaries seems like evidence. Afaik the situation so far is, the people they are detaining can mostly expect to survive. If it progresses beyond that, that’s when vulnerable groups still having guns gets more relevant, because the likelihood of a shootout is going to affect the scalability of mass arrests, or of the viability of extrajudicial killings by groups the government refuses to police.

Honestly wish you’d written this comment without the profane hyperbole. Because it’s correct. You didn’t need to be offensive — the truth stands on its own; hell, you didn’t even need the links — but here we are.
