Yes I made a point to carefully observe the clear back side of the package and cut it with scissors, making sure not to damage the zipper.

Still, to make it worse, the zipper was apparently just barely glued onto the outer bag and peeled off the bag as soon as I opened it, ultimately still ruining the zipper, despite careful efforts not to.

Of course I ended up having to put the whole package into another zipper bag to keep it fresh…

🤦

Oh, just wait until I’m about 3/4 of the way through the bag, only to find a slice of turkey with the dotted line printed directly on it…

      😂

      Nothing surprises me anymore 🤷

Oh that sucks. I bought a multi pack of bin bags (or trash liner or whatever they’re called across the pond). I’ve used the company for years because the bag material is fairly thick, and it doesn’t just perish away if any liquids sit at the bottom. Decent quality.

This batch though must have been produced when the machine that seals the bottom and perforates it 5mm below the seal, must have been needing a service. The perforations looked like faint dents in the plasticy material, which meant that when you tried to rip a bag off the roll, it just stretched the plastic rather than tear off cleanly along the dotted line of perforations. It meant that rather than just fucking one bag up, it often pulled across the seam of the next one, making two bags useless.

The whole multipack was fucked and it was infuriating. I can only imagine the machine’s perforating teeth were blunt as fuck.

    Little things.

The invisible perforated line. It tears exactly 0.75" at a time. It’s best to just use a knife.

Yep. I perfectly cut the bag with scissors, but still the zipper was poorly adhered to the bag, and the zipper peeled loose off the bag as soon as I opened it, so I still had to dig out another generic zipper bag for the rest of the turkey.

Sigh, I tried my best, got it perfect, and yet the bag failed anyways. At least I already had a backup plan, as the photo I posted was before I even tried to open the package. I had a feeling it was still somehow gonna fuck up…

That wouldn’t have mattered either way, whether the tear area was properly perforated or not from the factory, or whether I would have done it myself.

I perfectly cut where it should have been cut with scissors, but still the zipper was poorly adhered to the bag, weaker adhesive than the zipper itself, so the zipper itself still peeled loose from the bag.

I anticipated something might go wrong, hence the photo before I even tried to open it, plus I already had a generic zipper bag handy before even trying to open it.

Put it this way, the turkey won’t be going to waste…

Nah, not meant to be perforated, but is meant to have a dotted line printed above that yellow instructions bar. The package did have the pre-slit cuts on both ends, in the appropriate location where I ultimately just decided to cut it instead, as I’ve seen all too many of those sort of tear open zipper bags just tear miserably wrong and ruin the whole package.

Sigh, even after like perfectly cutting the bag on the intended area where the dotted line should have been, still the zipper was barely adhered to the bag and the whole zipper peeled loose, making the built in zipper ultimately still useless ☹️

Hey, at least I pay attention for potentially defective resealable packaging though, the turkey sure ain’t gonna go to waste.

I’ve also seen other zipper bag issues with shredded cheese, where the two sides of the zipper don’t even line up and can never actually seal. I just fold those bags over like 3 or 4 times at the end and use a chip bag clip on those.

Also, why is it that cardboard cereal boxes and similar with the quick rip strip are almost always glued right under the part that’s supposedly meant to easily and quickly rip loose?

Sigh, too many mildly infuriating things on my mind to keep adding to this list…
