Hey all! I’ve a choice between going to one of these 2 games:
LA Kings v Ottawa Senators LA Kings v Vancouver Canucks
I know literally nothing about NHL. I’m going cos the atmosphere and experience I’ve seen of matches looks great! I’m also secretly hoping there’s a fight obviously.
Which should I go to? And what are the best seating areas to try and get? I’ve no idea if goal end, centre etc is best, I’ve looked prices up so I know what I’m in for.
Most seats in an arena have a good view of the ice usually.
If you seat in the lower seats along the side of the ice, you should be aware that pucks can fly into those areas sometimes. It’s rare, but I have been hit by one before. Felt something hit my foot and looked down to see a puck.
Oh I would LOVE that good tip
Don’t be afraid of high seats in hockey and dress warm…it’s chilly in the bowl
I had to settle for some high seats to a game and I gotta say, I don’t know if I’ll buy anything else, had a nice view regardless
My favorite place to watch…plus you’ll never get an errant pick
You could also ask in !hockey@lemmy.ca, which is fairly active by Lemmy standards.
Thanks I saw that but I can only see one post?
Might be a federation issue between lemmy.ca and your instance? I see five posts from the last week or so.
Ahhh I’ll use my other account thanks 😊
I would go Kings vs Canucks as they are in the same division. Center ice is also a great spot for a first game so you can see the action on both sides of the ice.
Great ideas thanks! Is it worth spending a bit more for a better seat?
There are no bad seats in a hockey arena, in my opinion. I’ve been to the Kings arena twice and both times sat near the front of the top section. Being close to the front is more important than being close to the ice (said as someone who’s never sat near the ice), you can see the entire game play out below your.
Point taken, but I think Sens would be more exciting. Biased Sens fan who lived in Vancouver.
Thanks exciting how? And what are the chances of a fight? Asking for a friend
Maybe a division rival would produce more fights.
More exciting meaning more goals. Sens vs Kings had 22 goals in 2 head to head games last year. Compared to 17 goals in 3 games Head to Head with the Canucks.
Ah more goals would be great! Really excited thanks for your help
Honestly, you’re probably good either way. Live hockey is awesome. Enjoy!
There are some nhl communities. I block sports ones the moment I see them (Im one of those not into sports people) so I know they exist but im not sure of the name.
Nah, the only team I follow (Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs) isn’t in NHL.
