I started watching it last week and I’m liking it. Only four episodes into the first season, but I like the overall vibe of the show and characters.

I’m a fan. Been watching it since the second season was new, so not exactly from the start.
It’s made by some of the people who made/were involved with LOST, which is why someone else mentioned it. The lead actor (Harold Perrineau; he was Michael on LOST and is the sheriff on FROM) has said that he wouldn’t do the show if they had no ending in mind when they started. Accounts of what was said differ among fans. Some say he was told what the ending would be and maybe some of the solutions to the puzzles we’re all working through. Others say he was told that there is a definitive ending and that the questions do get answered, and he took them at their word.
If you’ve seen LOST to the end, there’s a nice Easter egg in the first season of FROM where a character asks if they’re in the situation explained at the end of LOST, and it’s quickly discredited. Although that could be a red herring. But they’ve also said that what is depicted at the end of season 2/beginning of season 3 is 100% real, further discrediting that theory.
I won’t spoil anything for you. It’s a heck of a ride. The only thing I don’t like is that they seem to have course corrected from the first couple episodes. Like how in the beginning, the sheriff makes a big deal about people having to choose between “colony house” and “town.” They throw that out pretty early on. There’s an element of the town that also gets wiped out, so once those two things change, you don’t have to think about them anymore. Here are some things to think about instead:
What rules do the Creatures have to abide by? What are their limitations, and what are their abilities?
What limitations do the Townspeople (including those in Colony House) face, and what rules do they have to abide by?
Where do the Creatures come from? Where are they during the day?
Where’s the damn motel? There’s a pool. Colony House is NOT the motel. (This is mostly a joke among fans. I’m not sure there’s anything to it. It IS weird that no one asks, though.)
If people can get in, can people get out?
What’s up with the kids? You’ve seen one. (Not a spoiler, but there are others. They may not all be on the same side.) What do they want?
What’s up with that symbol? If you haven’t seen it yet, you will soon. It is important. Be on the lookout for it.
What’s up with Victor? You should be paying attention to everybody, but there’s something about Victor. We don’t know yet. Of course you learn more about him, but he might be the most important character on the show. If I were starting over, I would be watching him very closely. And his room. Most characters with lines are important, some more than others, but most of them can be taken at face value. There’s something to Victor though.
You might have other questions, but they’ll be answered. There are questions you should be asking if you’re further in, but I don’t want to spoil anything by giving you those. Like I said about the last one, these are things I’d be focusing on if I were starting over. I also wouldn’t count on anything I learned in LOST or other shows these people have made (including Wayward Pines, Bates Motel, and a couple others that may or may not be in the same vein). Though I think they’re hoping you look there for clues.
I love a good mystery.
