On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) exposed an alleged $110 million corruption scheme at state-owned nuclear company Energoatom. The charges are supported by a fifteen-month wiretap and over seventy searches carried out as part of a major investigation called Operation Midas.
According to NABU officials, the investigation uncovered a criminal enterprise run by Timur Mindich, a film producer and a former business partner of Zelenskyy. Additional suspects include former Minister of Energy and recently appointed Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko; former Naftogaz CEO and Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov; former Minister of Defense and current National Security and Defense Council member Rustem Umerov; and Ihor Myroniuk, former deputy head of the State Property Fund and former advisor to Halushchenko.
Mindich fled Ukraine the day before his premises were raided and is reportedly now in Israel.
Ukraine, like many of the former Soviet states, has always had corruption problems. At least they’re trying to work through them right now.

Damn, now even the Atlantic Council is Russian propaganda? Will those perfidious rooskies stop at nothing?
Well that fucking sucks
Wow, propaganda on .ml? Whoever would have guessed. Go ahead and ban me now.
When western, pro-NATO outlets are forced to admit and report on ongoing corruption scandals in Ukraine, you really have to wonder how much overwhelming evidence it will take to convince you that something may be afoot in the Banderite-controlled Ukrainian government.
Sometimes I wonder if there is no limit, and these people will be the 21st century equivalent of the Southern “lost cause” people or the German “stabbed in the back” types
People generally operate by licensing themselves to believe what they want to. Until their material conditions force them into accepting reality, they will continue to license themselves purely to believe that which upholds their present worldview.
We all do this, to be clear, but understanding that process helps us understand our limitations.
Atlantic Council
You know you’ve moved on to huffing the hard stuff when Atlantic Council, a literal American Department of War think tank, is too pro-Russian for your liking. But i mean, let’s be real. “Propaganda” to you people has always just meant “any evidence that runs counter to the reality I wish to cultivate”. Like when nazis running Ukraine was “just propaganda” until all the swastika and totenkopf pictures became too much to deny, at which point you just stopped talking about it.
Which propaganda? The American effort to make the corruption seem less so; the people who want to end a horrible war and will try anything to stop it; or the people who sympathize with Russia?
Driven by our mission of “shaping the global future together,” the Atlantic Council is a nonpartisan organization that galvanizes US leadership and engagement in the world, in partnership with allies and partners, to shape solutions to global challenges.
Ukraine has a corruption issue, it was what drove the Ukrainian revolution a decade ago. And while great strides were made to eliminate some of it, it’s still an huge and important issue that is separate from the war
Yeah, I never expected to unironically post an AtlanticCouncil link myself. Feels very dirty.
