Eternal salvation or triple your money back! It’s a pretty sweet deal. https://www.subgenius.com/
We were passing around subgenius stuff in the BBS days late 80s early 90s, then usenet, it was a lot of fun, one of our locals was an ordained bishop in the church (self I’m sure haha) so we used to call him Father. He officiated some pretty geeky weddings.
Yep, all over the local BBS and fidonet.

Its funny because ive been around…I’d just never heard of this but if I had it slipped by me. And i lived a very sheltered life.
I’m from Ohio, was in my 20s in the 90s and went to U of Akron, where Devo is from.
Later lived in Athens and learned of the Church of the Subgenius, I had a copy of the book. We were all slackers in Athens, lol!
Makes sense !!
And the Slack was with him 🙏
Thank FSM it’s just fake.
All Praise to the Noodley One!!

To be completely honest, I find the people that discuss the clown gods designed specifically to mock other religious groups to be as insufferable as the people they’re mocking, if not moreso. We get it, you’re too smart to fall for a all-powerful space-daddy.
It’s like the Rick and Morty fandom (and others), I think; they let the satire become a core component of their personality, and it’s stupidly grating to outsiders. It also becomes a mechanism to belittle others or assume superiority.
