Those fucking invasive ads. I can no longer pause my TV to read, or visually analyze something, because an ad pops up after a second or so after hitting pause. This seems more like torture than “Here is my product. Will you please buy it?”. We need to do something about ads. They have become like a cancer, rather than good information. Most people cannot “make it rain” into the economy anymore because they’re all broke and being careful right now, so most ads aren’t helping them, just interrupting the flow.

I hear you on this one. Like if it engaged after being paused for a minute or something fine but I think many people are like you or me wanting to pause to look at something in the background or with closed captioning trying to catch a hard to make out convo. One thing that cracks me up is im getting older and hit with wealth management ads. Its like. See there is a requirement for wealth management that I lack.

Makes sense for free users. LLMs are expensive to train and run, and Google aren’t a charity.

Ah yes, the small indie cashless company named Google, they’re probably not making enough billions out of selling our data, they truly need this ad revenue too, poor little global corporation 🥺

They’re a business. The whole point of what they do, just like any other business, is to make money. They’re not going to have products that they lose money on.

A lot of people are already paying for Gemini anyways.

You stated they’re not a charity as if their greedy insidious product strategy didn’t provide them with enough revenue for Gemini to at least be free of charge and ad free since they’re shoving it down people’s throats every chance they get.
