Right now there is high bot activity on Reddit, but the high amount of users make it tolerable to some extent.

But one thing that I don’t see anyone talk about is what happens when bots to humans ratio become so high(>70%)? Like what if you checked Reddit only to see reposts and propaganda?

Following news websites does not have interactivity and more importantly, sharing events as it happens is something that is rare to get outside Reddit aed TikTok If I am being very honest.

I even stopped seeing more new memes outside meta platforms.

Is there is a forum/app for citzen journalism? Any crowdsourced tech tips forum exist?

it was functionally already all bots on the main subs/frontpage when i left. a bunch of covert ads too. i hear they are blatantly censoring antizionism now.

my burning question is why don’t people care about much of anything anymore. are people really that tired?

They want their quick fix of dopamine and damned be the minor inconvenience of possibly interacting with a bot. A vast majority don’t realize the massive bot problem and even if a subset of them knew, they wouldn’t care.

Just like how TikTok is now owned by MAGA but a bunch of my left leaning peers are still hopelessly addicted to it.

Reddit still has some value in that it has active niches or hobbyist subs. I still pop in for book/movie/tech recommendations.

Most corporate social media is already overrun with AI slop. Even Mastodon has too much slop for me. People don’t seem to mind as much as we do over here on the fediverse and even that is a gross generalization, because most people here don’t seem to mind it anywhere near as much as I do… They just are data center nimbys. So, my guess, to be honest, is people will just engage with it the same way they do with other content for 90% of people. Maybe 10% get disgusted and leave. The children pine for the crypto mines.

It won’t die so easily because it holds all the niche communities. I’d prefer them on the fediverse though.

It’s definitely different now that corpos have taken over. It will reach some critical mass where the average user has either been banned or finds it so unenjoyable to visit that they seek alternatives. That could take years though.
