    Depends on the platform. Lemmy has no algorithms, just different sorting

      Which if you wanna be pedantic, are also some form of algorithms, just way more transparent.

        I do want to be pedantic, and a simple sort doesn’t satisfy the definition of Recommender systems, which is what the word “algorithm” means in this context.
        Yes, sorting is an algorithm in the mathematical or CS sense, but I’d argue that the word has split into two meanings by now.

          Either way you’re sorting. The difference is what value you’re using the sort by.
