Or like say hey this part in the movie I did not get can you explain it to me. Or ask something about their past or how they feel on being naked in a movie? I mean it would lower the pool of people who would come on, but it would be way better for their jobs showing they can be honest about shit instead of always pushing some crap movie or crap book or crap Broadway play? They always seem to come out years later and say yea that movie sucked it was a shit experience. Then the host could ask why the hell did you pick to do it to begin with?

I was when I sold electronics that’s why I had repeat customer’s. Word of mouth got around and I would never try to oversell them and told them which sucked.

Okay but you’re presumably retired to a one room apartment and late night talk show hosts have millions of dollars. You did it wrong, but at least you can feel good about doing it wrong.

Not to be a dick but don’t really understand the question. I really don’t …no ill will in that. So they have millions and the guest has millions then why should we listen or watch a mutual finger bang of each other? Wouldn’t you admire a person more if they were just brutally honest? Not being mean just honest. Because the best TV was made when the guest or host seemed uncomfortable. Case in point Jay Leno’s interview with Hugh Grant after being picked up with a prostitute his first question was straight forward blunt and to the point. What The Hell Were You Thinking? At this time he was married to Elizabeth Hurley. Or the one were Jauqin Phoenix made David Letterman uncomfortable. want me to keep going? They may lose some viewers but 10 to 1 those viewers will be just lap dog’s but will keep a good chunk for at least this day in age have even a remote glimpse of honesty even if it’s brutal from someone. These people aren’t middle class anymore, or poor, so now that they are well off why do they still pull punches?

Presumably if they wanted your admiration, they wouldn’t be a friggin talk show host, which is by design a shill for corporate products and messages. There was that one time that one guy said something cool and the other time that other guy said that thing to that famous person, but come on; that’s not their job. Earning your admiration is not the job.

A talk show is not the personal platform of the host, any more than a role in a movie is the personal platform of the actor. A talk show is a commercial with some content sprinkled in to trick you into watching the ad. I don’t know why you are expecting anything more from it and you should be looking elsewhere for the needs you are expressing. You’re eating candy when you’re hungry and wondering why you get a tummy-ache.

I get that but wouldn’t be a more interesting watch instead of saying oh everything is great and I have all these friends. Like why hasn’t a late night host ever point blank ask him about beating up a Vietmanese person? Instead of putting out a press release. Both are getting paid but the most memorable late night moments is when the guest maid the host squirm or the latter. I think it would be neat for Jimmy Fallon to quit thinking everything is funny, including his own jokes, and not be a dick or anything but at least say hey I did not get this can you explain it to me? Or why did you choose this part because your a serious actor, or ask a woman what made her do full frontal nudity in a movie and the same to males. At least show you watched or read the damn thing instead of just paid for talking point. Hell youtube is getting that way anymore nothing but kiss ass’s

For the same reason people in infomercials seem to find it so impossible to perform basic human tasks like pouring a drink without a special drink pouring handle. The whole show is staged to get you to buy something, usually a movie ticket or a book. Talk show questions are often given to guests ahead of time to consider answers or given to the host by the guest to make it easier for them to promote their product. Neither of them is speaking as themselves, but as improv actors in an unscripted commercial.

Because they are on the show to promote [thing]. Do you think people are on the show because they really like [Host]?

I get that to an extent but hold those press events with newspapers and podcasters and youtubers. What ever happened to honesty anymore? Why can’t one of them just be like I did this movie because I wanted a second or third home or a new humvee?

Many film stars are contractually obligated to promote their films for a time and, at the very least, are held under a nondisparagment clause; they could likely be sued if they have something that could be even skewed as negative.

Yea but they could say the movie is decent and I did it for the money. Like Halle Berry said about Swordfish when asked about going topless said they paid her 3mil per boob and she took it.
