What a weird argument. People preserve all the digital games on consoles, too. The only somewhat fair argument would be that it’s slightly easier to preserve games on PC, but really both have their own challenges. On PC you’re fighting DRM, on consoles you’re fighting the OS security to break in.
The only real excuse for digital only is DRM free, where you can backup your installers.
And cheapness. Steam has always gotten away with this because it’s just plain cheap. Their distribution costs are way, way less per game and it’s easier for them to pass on savings, which I think is a big part of how they can push games for so cheap compared to most phyical media sources.

You need a PC crack to the console so check mate atheist. Edit: also I’m just playing.
I’m not just playing, I’m also seeding* eXoDOS and eXoWin95.
I am waiting for Vol.2 of ExoWin95 for the games of my generation that I grew up with
Same. Vol. 1 has a couple of nice games, but the 2nd one should have all the real good stuff.
