Just blocked lemmy.ml from my Lemmy account, and I swear to god it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done on this platform. My homepage feels actually clean now.
For the past few months I’d been seeing a lot of tankie posting and pretty much far-left propaganda on my feed. It got tiring enough that I finally checked my blocked-user list, and realized pretty much everyone I’d blocked was from lemmy.ml. So I just blocked the whole instance instead.
Saying this as someone who considers themselves a leftist: I used to think Lemmy itself was an echo chamber. Turns out lemmy.ml was the problem the entire time. Probably the reason I tolerated it for so long is that I agreed with a lot of what they posted, but like an oversaturated meme, I’d had enough. Browsing the platform was starting to feel way too tiring instead of fun, which defeats the point of being here in the first place.
The breaking point was seeing some dude post a “meme” implying North Korea and China are basically communist utopias and that the West sucks. I mean, the West does suck, but come on - you’re saying North Korea is the ideal the West should strive for? What the hell…

As opposed to Democrats who don’t even try to run or often lose them themselves? AOC is the likely candidate they will endorse in 28. And she is a democrat. You really should give them a chance and try not to be so irrationally afraid of them. Unlike the Democrats they actually have policies and agenda that most people Democrat and otherwise like if you talk to them about it neutrally. Can’t worry about the screaming McCarthyites. The screaming mccarthyites are going to scream communist no matter who gets nominated. And I think we all would like to have someone who stands for something unlike Harris who stands for nothing.
Democrats do pretty good when they have power and show me someone who saw the choice between Trump and Harris and decided not to vote and I’ll show you a fool.
I’ll pay attention to DSA when they start winning purple votes and I stand by that.
incredible principles.
No wonder the democrats have a reputation as professional losers
Professional losers?
They win half the time.
It’s third parties that usually are a rounding error.
and true to form even when they win they manage to be losers. not satisfied with just being losers, their ‘foreign policy’ is genocidal
Their support of Israel was horrible but now that genocide has gotten worse and expanded to other countries and the Russians have stepped up their genocide of Ukraine so the world is worse off.
they supported a genocide and managed to do absolutely nothing about things like healthcare or reigning in executive power and now it’s all blown up in their faces
the reason inflation/affordability was even an issue that Trump could reference stems from their genocidal and feckless ‘foreign policy’. Energy prices would not have been nearly as high if they had found a way to de-escalate with russia and reigned in israel. instead we’re on the path to world war 3 and you’re insisting we keep voting for those fucking losers
Russia escalated with the world when they invaded Ukraine that isn’t the democrats fault.
Inflation is/was a world wide problem that was getting under control under Biden.
The biggest problem america faces today is a good two thirds of its population is so far removed from reality that there is no way to reach them anymore.
you’re telling me, I don’t think I can reach you and you’re extremely removed from reality
I don’t know, if you ask me Biden’s failure to prosecute Trump seems like a prime failure of action. One of far far too many. Which really goes to the core of the problem with current Democrat leadership. Promise very little deliver even less.
Not going to argue that the people that switched from Harris to Trump because of all the hubbub weren’t fools. They certainly were. But they and the Bernie to Trump people are far more common and representative than informed educated voters.
It didn’t help that in the four years the administration was trying to navigate the most complicated case the American justice system has ever seen the American public decided they didn’t give a shit and put him back into the white house.
Complexity is one thing. Merrick Garland not even attempting is another. I could be understanding of the complexity if they had even behaved as if it was serous or important. They didn’t. And their failure to take it seriously along with the media’s failure led to this.
Jack Smith had a case built before trump got re-elected.
Unfortunately too little too late and Biden was too afraid to push it. Politics for far too long has been run on a gentleman’s agreement. That one side has clearly not been honoring.
When you have a president pushing to jail his opponent it’s a delicate situation which was one of the reasons why it was the most complicated case in the judicial system’s history.
Under normal circumstances I’d agree. Under these circumstances it was a failure still.
