News media world wide does this every day as a it’s main fuel of income.
I logged into FB for the first time in a long while because a friend uploaded a photo that I wanted to see.
I’ve got over 700 friends on there, and yet after scrolling for over 30 items - ads, video shorts, groups I’m not a member of, and pages I don’t follow - I didn’t see a single post from someone I knew, including the photo I knew for a fact had been posted 10 minutes earlier.
I’m baffled why anyone is still on Facebook.
I straight up deleted my account so that I couldn’t be bothered to ever go back. But that’s why I left. Never saw any of my friends stuff anymore so there wasn’t any use anymore. And the depth of the surveillance was just coming to light which made it that much easier.
Yup it’s total madness. I returned a few years ago and I was getting friend update notifications that were sometimes weeks old.
Yeah, welcome to Denmark. Use Facebook and Messenger or count yourself as disconnected and ootl.
Want to use something a little more private/secure? Some people might use Whatsapp, which most definitely is not another Meta app! /s
Though, a few German tourists and I managed to bully some poor fellow Dane into installing Signal, so maybe not all is lost…
PS. Why is the “English” language not allowed in world@quokk.au? What language does the comm prefer?
Shocked gasp!
Facebook/Meta literally has an invitation-only program that pays out a few billion $ a year to select content creators. They are even paying channels that actually break some of their policies, yet they do nothing about them. When asked about those instances, it’s never a direct response to that instance–it’s always a quick finger-point to the “rules” they supposedly keep and right back to business as usual. Mark Zuckerberg is a shit-onion. Layer after layer, the stink somehow still worsens as each one gets peeled off.
"We have clear policies in place which anyone using our monetisation tools must comply with.
"When Content Monetisation Pages violate our Community Standards, we apply penalties such as temporarily or permanently disabling their ability to earn on our platforms.
“Creators or publishers who repeatedly breach these policies will be removed from our platforms.”
🥴
The destruction of society carries no weight in the search for ad revenue.
This! …but when I get a little too carried away with some road killed racoon and post it to facebook, I get permabanned for some reason
I’m sorry. You just need to recast your sexuality as a health trend. By fucking the horse, you gain its endurance!
There’s no justice
There is justice in deleting our accounts and never coming back
Ooh didn’t see this was already posted. Doubt the government will do shit about this.
If you’re talking about the US government, I’m not sure if you’re aware that all of them are now grifters and corrupt as possible. Your personal safety and interests are the least of their concern. And a very large part of your neighbors voted for it and are proud of it.
I work with a lot of people who have very little experience of the world outside of this beautiful, but small and quiet place
I regularly hear them spouting off opinions on things that they have absolutely no idea about, and they invariably bring up stupid 'Murican shit (I live a long way from the US)
They’re getting their opinions from Facebook and the like, and it’s painful
Yeah, who says there isn’t monoculture anymore. It was co-opted by these big tech companies. It exists in the form of people all repeating the same shit they saw on their social media feeds.
Also, water is wet
