What? Outdated junk running in containers because the maintainer didnt update their shit is not a real problem?
Seems that it is perhaps you who doesnt know how to use it.

Why not have the option for both?
I dont see how this is a defense for jamming everything in to a container.

Docker has its uses, but it has gone to far.
I already have a webserver with Apache, mariadb and everything. Why does your PHP based website only come as a docker solution? Fuck you.
When you go all in with docker, it quickly becomes a mess with rando NICs and containers named “random 32 character string” and dependencies up the wazoo. Ending up running ancient packages because the developer refuses to apt upgrade their shit.
Proxmox or any other hypervisor platform gives you control. Whereas you have to take it for docker and youre still at the mercy or the developers to keep your shit secure.

Houthi’s start a civil war and bring Yemen in to chaos. Somehow still Saudi’s fault.
The saudis suck arse, but lets not pretend the houthi’s are some warriors of justice
Mohamed forbids murdering people, so how much is that religious standpoint worth.

So, it’s just popcorntime with a new name?

Nothing new under the sun. It was one of the reasons for the space shuttle program and it is rumoured a few secret launches visited soviet satellites.
The OG plan for the Hubble telescope was to bring it back with the space shuttle.
Why is anyone surprised theres now drones in orbit with similar capabilties.
They arent CnC Generals zero hour orbital cannons

It does the same no, stream your library anywhere. Thats what Jellyfin does, Netflixify your personal library

How are they casually finding these home assistant servers? I sure hope people dont have port 8123 exposed publicly like that? Are you all broadcasting it in to the ether?

It’s been that case since forever now. Nothing has really changed and the same rules still apply.
I still remember ‘hacking’ my ISP ADSL router 2+ decades ago and listening to the WAN interface. Hundreds of thousands of attempts per day in the early 2000s. Mostly US, Russia and China.
My personal #1 threat on the internet for the past 20 years has been DDOS and thanks to billions of IOT devices and privacy invading ‘smart’ appliances everywhere… The botnets have never been this plenty. DDOS as a Service for mere cents a day.
LLM’s joined the fray in recent years but it still can’t do anything it hasn’t learned from us humans.

My homelab has become a whole lot less fun with current memory and storage prices.
Minecraft uses a ton of that. Not a bad analogy i suppose.

Netflix has been listing piracy as their biggest competition for a couple of years now.
It is the threat to corpos we think it is. They are using and bending the legal system rather than treating it as actual competition. Which is a direct threat to our freedom.

After setting up my own Jellyfin, i just cant stand paid streaming. It is like going back a decade experience wise with a 90s experience in quality.
Who knew VHS water and night artifacts would still be common in 2026.

They’ve attempted to kill off java several times. It’s been second graded for years now in development. Geyser became a chore, using bedrock for java isnt fun anymore(it ran so much smoother, i kinda miss it). The list of bedrock exclusive features keeps growing each patch.
Not just the streamers, Java’s community is massive thanks to Bukkit, Spigot, Paper and the like. They know that dropping java would just result in a fork to a clone. As the majority of the Minecraft community infrastructure is not dependent on Mojang and Microsoft.

It was paid first in the netherlands.
It wasnt free for me until I got my Lumia. Paying eventually became optional a few years before the takeover.

For context: Since everyone likes to make it politically, ranting about Trump and the current state of the USA.
The Dutch moved 122,5 tons of gold from the US to Amsterdam in 2014. Germany started moving 300 tons of gold from the US to Germany back in 2013 and finished this in february 2017.

The Dutch managed to tax it just fine. It has the same tax reliability issues any cash payment has.
I have had to deal with dependency hells plenty, i am a Debian user after all.
But with that argument you’re now just running outdated shit in a container. Not a great pro-docker argument tbh.
