Arduino diy handheld for 10 bucks
10$ bill in a pair of 6$ kaki.
Major win
I do thrift, but my most recent great find was at a queer clothing swap downtown. It is a long, black, integrated flowy pant + skirt. The skirt really billows when I walk or it gets caught in the breeze. My silhouette tends to be top heavy, and the profile of this piece really balances it out.
National Geographic Kids magazines. Only found them once. They are way too expensive when I buy them new.
Other than that, I mostly buy kids books from thrift stores.
I found like 400 of these once in a dumpster behind the library in very good condition. Along with a whole lot of other great books, kind of sad to see what the library throws away.
Nice found!
A Fjällräven backpack in perfect condition, including seat pad, for 40 Euro. Made of cotton canvas, with padded straps. Usually sells for about 160 Euro.
I found two vintage, 100%wool blankets, one from the mid-40s, both in great shape. Got them both for the price of a decent lunch, and they should outlast me.
A pretty decent color laserjet printer for $20.
One of the big ones used in offices, not a personal one.
I picked up a copy of Like Mike for my kid and when we opened it up at home it was a copy of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Love spinning the roulette wheel of thrift DVDs
Oooh! Oooh! I found this coin!

I paid five dollars for it, and later I learned it’s made of 90% silver. It’s some sort of commemorative coin celebrating Andorra.
A relatively nice queen blanket is the latest, just threw it on the bed last night.

The last good thing I got was a deck of sealed National Airlines playing cards for a dollar. For reference, National was bought by Pan Am and ceased operations in 1980, so these were at least 45 years old. I collect airline playing cards, so this was a nice find.
I find that yard sales and flea markets tend to be better these days.
I thrift mostly to add DVDs to my media server. At last count, I have 1036 titles.
Among the movies I picked up the last time I was at a thrift store was “42”. I had not seen it, and I really enjoyed it.
A two piece seersucker suit in the standard style for ~$30. I usually can’t find anything off the rack with long enough arms, but it fit me perfectly!
I’m a big MST3K fan and one of my favorites is Time Chasers. In it the main character has a Castleton University shirt.
So when I found an authentic Castleton University duffel bag I was pretty stoked.
