Framasoft is based in France, and since we know how France is currently about GrapheneOS. It is not the best location for PeerTube and other open source projects to be in currently. So a move could be in order or at least decentralizing the development?

Also, not sure if it is just me but does it seem like it is last in how fast it grows, develops, and usage out of all open source social media/platforms?

Thinking and feeling like it would be beneficial for the project to move out of France and switch how it ran similiar to how Mastodon does. Owned and run by the people.

Should the project stay in France? Do you think it is fine how it is ran? In what ways can it improve? Long-term do you think Framasoft even as a non-profit can always be trusted?

Been working on open source as well so I know more people helping out would be beneficial but not fully familiar with PeerTube situation so asking here.

Thoughts?

it requires both technical experience and quite a lot of money if you want securely and reliably host hundreds of videos

Not really. It’s quite easy with PeerTube. The most technical part is installing PeerTube.

If you are hosting your own videos then you really don’t need to spend that much money on storage.

Note that if you are self hosting then you can control who can use it (only by you and/or other people).

If you are allowing other people to upload their video, then yes, storage is going to be a problem.
