Petrol up like 8% here. For how much people are screeching about it all I can really think is that is this it? Hasn’t even effected me as I am too poor to drive a car.

Oh no. A bag of rice will go from £0.52 to £0.56 - assuming 100% of the cost is in petrol for transport, which it isn’t.

Oh we haven’t even started to see the effects on food. Fuel for planting, fertilizer (urea is already up about 30% and that assumes you can even buy it, fuel for harvesting, transportation, energy for processing and more fuel for delivery.

Some farmers will simply skip planting some food crops if there’s no fertilizer available, or they think they’ll lose money if they plant.

In truth I have no idea. But we don’t have to guess, as we’ll see in about two weeks if there are any downstream effects to have to worry about!

Either way, people are already making decisions and, whether true or not, citing these high gas prices as their reasoning behind their different behaviors.

I did hear that it will impact Japan much more than people inside the USA. Then again, Iran was talking about making a special exemption to allow ships for Japanese oil to go through the strait, while blocking others such as those for the USA. So maybe not?
