Yes yes billionaire and all that, I mean going beyond his company and personal ethics. People talk about how he looks and acts in the moment as creepy or unsettling, feelings which other tech bros don’t seem to evoke. Why is that?

Nobody in the position of power he exists in can be judged solely off of appearance. We’ve all seen too many quotes and actions by him to judge without context.
dude, that guy’s … like, how do i say this. it’s just obvious that he has no empathy at all, nor does he understand what it means to be human. the term “lizard people” comes from him (i guess) because damn. no emotions.
it’s not so much the “no emotions” part that creeps me off, but the certainty that if he had any, they would be psychotic.
you know how he started the company? by posting photos of girls on campus against their will online, sothat others can rate them by their appearance. just imagine what a shitstorm that would cause if you did that today. people would call it “totally creepy”, and i guess they’d be totally right about that.

MZ stole the idea that made him rich. He behaved like an asshole when he got rich. He runs a big company that is unencumbered by such moral quandaries as whether or not to prevent genocide. A company that experimented with manipulating teenage girls. A company that is aware of the addictive qualities of their products.
If he speaks in public he comes across to me as part robot, part calculating oppositionist, and part utterly uncomfortable.
I think the public had a similar impression of another tech bro, Bill Gates. Until his wife divorced him, he was looked at as a nerd with the voice is Kermit the frog. And now he finds out that no charity donations can wash away the Epstein files oil slick.
He has an uncanny valley look to him. I think the dark eyes and crappy haircut are part of it. And his general awkwardness. But also a lot of it is influenced by his actions, ie. the way you can feel everything he says is a sleazy lie as he works to invade your privacy. He doesn’t have a sleek salesman demeanor to help smooth it over.

I assume it is mainly because his haircut and very pale skin used to be very unique and because his body language and facial expressions often does not match what people expect in a lot of public situations.
Unfortunately some of these things can also be explained by neurodiversity and people are projecting their personal grievances of Facebook/ meta onto that.
As someone who’s also neuro-diverse, we’re all a little off-putting. We know we look/sound a bit off and it’s a bit uncanny for some people. People will attach all kinds of meaning to anything they can visibly identify as different. As a mildly autistic ginger atheist I feel like “Soulless” gets thrown around way too freely, but I feel it’s important to keep in mind there are much worse flavours of bigotry out there. Still it’s important to point out that just because Zuck is awful doesn’t mean it’s ok to hate robot-people.
I feel like people give a little more grace to the uncanny if they are at least perceived as benevolent.
Mr. Zuckerberg doesn’t get this benefit.

Me neither, in fact, I actually prefer them over neurotypicals, but I can definitely see how the general population might not agree.
No, I know what he means. There’s a certain too-much-ness, a weird stiffness around me and other neurodiverse - you wouldn’t notice it on a good day but it’s certainly annoying for others. I’m not really capable of normal social interaction in groups at all (groups = more than 1 people present), and I might fake it for a while but it becomes clear after a few interactions.
I mean it’s a spectrum of course, as all these things are. No two neurodiverse people are neurodiverse in exactly the same way, we fit broad tendencies. But in most cases people can tell, especially if they understand the broad gist of the various spectra. Most of us wear behavioral masks to get through the day but they’re rarely perfect. Sometimes those of us on a spectrum are better at spotting it in each other than typicals, because we’re working overtime to try to notice and process subtle signals but it’s always there to varying degrees. When our masks slip, people tend to look at us like we grew a second head or something equally bizarre. Some people describe it as feeling alien, or fey-touched, or any one of a billion euphemisms and analogies across time and place.

Bingo. He’s not the tall brown/blonde well-built masculine jaw type of ‘leader’ people expect, that looks like every other CEO. There is a distinct phenotype that the public expects from such people. Elon is far more ‘normal’ in this regard.
people pretend otherwise, but most folks are highly judgemental of physical appearances and slot you into ‘who you are’ based on your facial shape, hair color, skin pigment, etc. His lack of classic masculinity in body and face is a huge part of it too.
people have very clear expectations about what certain jobs/roles are supposed to look like, and get upset when people don’t ‘fit’ the expectations. a lot of ‘professional’ life is defined by ‘looking the part’ and Mark Z does not ‘look the part’ of a CEO, or even your typical programmer nerd these days. He looks like a stereotypical ‘ginger’, if he was an actor and played comedy roles as a ‘ginger’ people would love him for it.
Elon is far more ‘normal’ in this regard.
Uh, people talk harshly of Elon as well. I don’t know too many people who would think of him as anything approaching normal.
Honestly, I don’t think he’d look that creepy without the context, same goes for most other famous but hated people that people dont like the appearance of, like Jeff Bezos or such. I think that that reputation comes from a combo of: people being more inclined to notice things they don’t like in people they already dislike or to consider neutral features in those people negative (the flipside of how one can find someone a bit bad looking, but then end up friends somehow and no longer think they look so bad), and media using photos of those people taken at unflattering angles, mid-speech where expressions look strange, etc, when talking about those people for an audience that already isn’t inclined to like them.

You mean aside from making billions off of spying on people without their conscent? I guess its not as creepy that its publicly known, most of the data collection and targeted ad marketing was also predominantly children and teens. So i guess that excuses the other fact, that most of the targeted ads preyed on children and teens who showed signs of mental health symptoms. Its all good tho, its the world qe live in, errybody spying on errybody.
So breezing over all the known-knowns, how about the simple fact he has paid out billions of dollars of fines for breaking the law to continue spying on people.

Personally i can dissociate the guy i see on camera with a desk-name reading “M Zuckerberg” from the second hand stories i hear of ‘zuckerberg did this, zuckerberg did that’ and just focus on what the appearance and demeanour makes me feel.
I can’t not associate people with the knowledge I have about them.
